Barnsley have signed Everton midfielder Anderson Silva de Franca on loan, and have subsequenty recruited Burnley defender Stephen Foster for �100,000. Foster, 26, is a long-term target of the Tykes and is has signed a two-year contract with the Championship club.
He started just nine first-team games last season, after joining Burnley from Crewe in the summer of 2006.
Anderson, 24, is a Brazilian who has made just one Premier League appearance since joining Everton from Montevideo.
He originally agreed to join the Toffees in 2005 - but immigration issues delayed the move and he spent a season on loan at Malaga before finally signing for Everton in January 2007 after resolving his passport issues.
