Frenchman Roy had been at St Mirren since 1998, while 26-year-old Ferguson arrives after nearly seven years with Ross County.

"Ayr have lost a lot of experienced boys but they've got some cracking young players," Ferguson told the Scottish Sun.

"I'm delighted to sign and raring to go."

Meanwhile, midfielder Iain Nicolson, who was at Somerset Park last season has agreed a one-year deal with Alloa Athletic.

Former St Mirren man Nicolson was a near-ever present with Ayr but was not offered new terms.
