US coach Bob Bradley interested in Aston Villa vacancy

United States coach Bob Bradley would be "honoured" to talk to Aston Villa owner Randy Lerner about being their next boss after Martin O'Neill's exit.
Bradley's team impressed at the World Cup and he has been mentioned as a serious contender for the vacant job.
"I'd be honoured to have a conversation with Randy Lerner," Bradley told BBC Radio 5 live's Sportsweek.
"I've had no contact with him. There have been talks with my representatives to find out the situation."
O'Neill left Villa after four years in charge just days before the start of the new Premier League season, with disagreements over transfer policy and the sale of midfielder James Milner to Manchester City thought to have been points of disagreement with Villa's American owner.
Bradley's contract with the US national team runs until the end of the year, and he said although he did not want his achievements in that job to be overlooked or disregarded in any way, he had "always been excited by the possibility of managing in Europe".
He added: "Following the World Cup there have been some discussions with US Soccer about what the future holds and we will continue those discussions in the next few weeks and we will see what happens.
"I think that there are challenges on both sides. I have always been excited by the possibility of being a manager in Europe, but we're proud of the work we have put in with the US team and it's important to see that as a challenge."
Reserve team manager Kevin MacDonald has been in temporary charge at Villa Park since O'Neill's sudden departure.
Bradley said he thought Villa were dealing with things sensibly, and this approach showed that Lerner was providing a good environment for whoever got the job.
"Aston Villa have taken a good stance," stated Bradley.
MacDonald still unsure over future
"They are patient and have a very good man in Kevin MacDonald, who is highly respected in the club. They are probably putting a list together as well as making sure Kevin has the time to consider his future."
When asked if he would be interested in the job, Bradley said: "Of course. Villa is a massive club, with a great history and a great following. Those opportunities would of course be of interest. It's pretty clear that Randy Lerner has done a solid job where tradition is kept."
Former England coach Sven-Goran Eriksson and former Villa captain Gareth Southgate have also been linked with the managerial role.
A decision on who will take over the Villa reins on a full-time basis could be less than two weeks away.
MacDonald suggested that he would let owner Randy Lerner know whether or not he wants to be considered for the role after Villa's game against Everton on 29th August - their last match before a two-week international break.
Villa next game after that is against Stoke on 13 September.
