The Aston Villa captain played well in England's recent victories against Israel and Russia but his place is in doubt with the return of Frank Lampard.

Barry told the Villa website, "There's no reason why I'm not going down there (to the squad) with confidence."

"The fans here expect me to perform at the highest levels every week so it will be no different for my country."
