Mark Delaney's future at Aston Villa has been put in doubt after the club's refusal to offer him a long-term deal. The 28-year-old defender has just over a season left on his current deal and a 12-month option in Villa's favour.
And his representative Richard Rosser said: "The club are of the opinion that there is no need to negotiate.
"They will not entertain a long-term commitment and this has left Mark having to consider whether or not his long-term future is at Aston Villa."
He added: "Mark has been approached before on three separate occasions to sign new contracts with the club and has done so more than willingly - even though the last two contracts still had significant periods to run.
"He is an established Welsh international, who is now entering the prime of his career at the age of 28 and wants to give his best years to Aston Villa."
