Trevor Birch, former Leeds chief executive, has denied reports he has taken up the same role at Aston Villa. Villa are looking to fill the vacancy after chairman Doug Ellis decided to stand down as chief executive.
But Birch insisted: "The reports about me having agreed to join Villa are wrong. People are jumping the gun. I am keeping my options open."
A Villa spokesman said: "The search for a chief executive is continuing. No decisions have been reached."
Birch's denial comes on the day that Villa rejected a 30m takeover bid led by former Manchester City full-back Ray Ranson.
Villa insisted that the bid "significantly undervalues" the club in a statement to the Stock Exchange.
Birch has been constantly linked with a move to Villa and was a target before he joined Leeds to steer them through their financial crisis.
