Triple challenge excites Wenger

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger believes the midweek Champions League win over Roma has provided a key psychological spur his side need for the season's climax.

Following Wednesday's success, Arsenal secured a 4-0 victory over Blackburn to take fourth place from Aston Villa.

"The team is really up for it," said Wenger, whose side meet Hull in an FA Cup quarter final on Tuesday.

"We are in good shape to fight on three fronts. I believe maybe the pressure came off the team after the Roma game."

Andrey Arshavin was involved in the opening goal when he pressured Andre Ooijer into putting through his own net and then the Russian doubled his side's tally himself.

Substitute Emmanuel Eboue then scored two late goals, including a penalty, to complete Arsenal's win.

"We played with more freedom, our football was more fluent and our game is coming back," he added.

"That's down to psychological reasons. We were always very focused and we are on a very consistent run now, so we can go from strength to strength until the end of the season.

"Would we have produced the same performance today had we gone out in midweek? It would have been very difficult."
