Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is ready to send some of his young players on loan to gain first-team experience after the club's Carling Cup exit.

The Gunners' loss to Burnley last week will mean limited senior opportunities for most of the squad used by Wenger.

"Jay Simpson, Gavin Hoyte and Kieran Gibbs might go on loan," Wenger told the club website.

"They need to play in the Championship for three or four months. Not Jack Wilshire though, he is only 16."

Wilshire is widely regarded as the most promising of Arsenal current crop of emerging talents.

But Simpson, 19, impressed while on loan at Millwall last season, winning the League One player of the year award, and Gibbs, 19, spent three months with Championship side Norwich.

Hoyte, the younger brother of Middlesbrough's former Arsenal full-back Justin, is yet to have a spell away from Arsenal but the 18-year-old defender played 90 minutes in all three of the club's Carling Cup games.

The Mexican striker Carlos Vela, 19, has had spells with Osasuna and Salamanca, while the midfielder Fran Merida, 18, spent four months at Real Sociedad last season.

Midfielders Nacer Barazite, 18, and Armand Traore, 19, are currently on loan at Derby and Portsmouth respectively.
