Wenger is in no hurry to get his chequebook out |
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger will not be rushed into plugging the gaps in the centre of his defence. Wenger has only Kolo Toure and Pascal Cygan as his senior defenders to start the campaign.
Despite Sol Campbell's departure and Philippe Senderos' injury, Wenger is reluctant to meet West Brom's 10m asking price for Curtis Davis.
Wenger told Arsenal's website: "They went 10 Champions League games without conceding and I believe in them."
Wenger added: "I know the prices in England, the prices for young talent are the prices you pay for established players.

"We do it sometimes. We did it with Theo Walcott, for example, but we cannot do it always." Arsenal signed striker Theo Walcott from Southampton in January.
Wenger also has promising defender Johan Djourou, 19, and is ready to show his faith in the players at his disposal.
The Gunners boss said: "If we can find someone and we can get them then we will do it but, at the moment, I have not found anybody.
"We want to improve our collective team play on last year. We did that well during the season and we want to keep this development going."
