Campbell has had a turbulent season |
Fenerbahce have released a statement saying that they are not close to signing Sol Campbell. Reports in British newspapers had suggested the 31-year-old Arsenal defender was the subject of an 8m bid from the Turkish side.
Fenerbache have not confirmed or denied their interest but said in a statement: "Rumours we have agreed all terms with Sol Campbell are untrue.
"Claims he will arrive to sign in the coming days do not reflect the truth."
It was claimed that Campbell's representative had met Fenerbahce officials last week.
Campbell scored Arsenal's goal in the 2-1 Champions League final defeat by Barcelona last week but he has had a troubled season.
He walked out after being substituted at half-time in a home game against West Ham in February.
And he has admitted that he has suffered a turbulent year, both with injuries and off-the-field problems.
Campbell, who is part of England's World Cup squad, is contracted to Arsenal for the next three years after he signed a new deal in 2005.
