Henry joined Arsenal for �10.5m but will he leave for a bigger fee?

Henry, 28, is yet to renew his deal, which ends in 2007, but Adebayor thinks he could stay on if the Gunners beat Villarreal to reach the final.

"Success in this tournament could mean the difference between Thierry agreeing a new contract or not," Adebayor told the News of the World newspaper.

"This game is so important for the club going forwards."

Arsenal face Villarreal in the first-leg of the semi-final at Highbury on Wednesday 19 April, a match described by Adebayor as "huge".

Despite reaching the last four of the Champions League for the first time, the Gunners have been disappointing in the Premiership and domestic cup competitions.

That has fuelled speculation that Henry is set to end his seven-year spell at the club this summer.

The Frenchman has been linked with a move to Spanish rivals Barcelona and Real Madrid and Italian giants Inter Milan.

Henry to decide future by 9 June

Henry has made no secret of both his loyalty to Arsenal and his ambition to finish his career with a club capable of winning silverware.

The forward says he will decide on 9 June whether he can fulfil both criteria at the Emirates Stadium next season.
