Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has said he spoke to Sol Campbell on Friday and expects him back at training on Monday. The England centre-back has not been seen since walking out of Highbury at half-time of their 3-2 Premiership defeat to West Ham on Wednesday.
Wenger said: "He sounded okay, has no problems and will be focused and determined to come back."
Campbell's solicitor Bon Battu said: "I have been in continuous contact with Sol. He needed some space."
Battu continued: "He has no personal problems whatsoever and will be back training next week."
Speaking after Arsenal's 2-0 win at Birmingham, Wenger said: "There is nothing for me to forgive because there was no acrimony at all and no argument in the dressing room.
"There is no bad feeling at all. It's just that you cannot perform at this level if you are not in the right state and he wasn't.
"We welcome him back and he will have plenty to contribute in the final stretch of the season, when we will need everybody."
Arsenal team-mate Robert Pires had claimed 31-year-old Campbell had "a big worry on the private side".
Fellow defender Kolo Toure revealed he had failed to get hold of Campbell.
"I think Sol is a good player. We all know what he has done for Arsenal and the England national team as well," Toure told the BBC.
"That kind of thing (the West Ham performance) can happen once in your life. For me he is a good player and he will be back definitely. I have tried to phone him but it was hard to get him."
Campbell was taken off after a torrid first-half display in the defeat to West Ham.
Reports have suggested Campbell might walk away from football, while it has also been said that Football Association officials tried unsuccessfully to contact him when he was absent from a function with Tony Blair on Thursday.
