Turkish club Galatasaray remain confident of securing the services of Arsenal winger Robert Pires. Pires, 31, has interested Italian side Juventus but his agent was adamant he will not be moving to Turkey.
But Galatasaray president Ozhan Canaydin was quoted in the Daily Mirror: "I can't say the transfer is a done deal but there's a 50% chance.
"We've made good progress. Pires has three offers on the table and we're the last one."
Pires has a year left on his contract and Canaydin added: "His aim is to leave a on a free transfer and he's told us that he's solved this problem.
"We'll have some kind of result this week."
Pires' five-year spell at Highbury looks to be coming to an end, with the French international unhappy with the club only offering him a one-year extension.
But Juve remain favourites to sign the former Marseille and Metz star.
His agent Stephane Courbis earlier told Turkish newspaper Vatan: "Galatasaray? We haven't got an offer from that club.
"Right now Juventus is the only interested party. It is not possible Pires can go to any club in Turkey."
Galatasaray vice-president Turgay Kiran has insisted that the club are serious in their bid to sign Pires.
He said: "The talks are going on. Since Pires lowered his price, the chance of a deal going through is getting higher."
But Courbis added: "The price of our player is 2.75m a year. Lowering the price is not an issue you can discuss."
Pires has also been linked with Valencia and Lyon and has spoken favourably about a move to Spain - or a return to France.
He joined Arsenal from Marseille in July 2000 for 6m and has scored 73 goals in 206 starts for the Gunners.
