Arbroath have signed Steven Doris, who was released by St Johnstone, and fellow midfielder Jamie Redman from Edinburgh University.
The Second Division club's website says Redman had impressed in action in the East of Scotland League.
And they say they secured 20-year-old Doris "after fighting off interest from several other clubs".
Doris impressed on loan to Arbroath last season from Saints, who released him after their promotion to the SPL.
He had two previous loan spells with Montrose.
Meanwhile, midfielder Barry Sellars and defenders Robbie Raeside and Paul Lunan have agreed terms to remain with Arbroath.
