Aldershot manager Gary Waddock has signed the much-travelled left-sided midfielder or defender Dean Howell.
The 27-year-old has already played at 12 clubs, and joins the Football League newcomers from Rushden & Diamonds.
Waddock told BBC Southern Counties Radio: "He's very strong going forward and can track back.
"He's looking forward to the challenge, and has a point to prove. He's had a taste of the Football League, he's come out, and wants to go back again."
Howell has spent time at Football League sides Notts County, Crewe, Rochdale and Colchester, as well as non-league Spalding, Southport, Morecambe, Halifax (two spells), Weymouth, Geays and Rushden & Diamonds.
Meanwhile, Shots defender Louie Soares, 23, has signed a new two-year contract.
