Aldershot Town boss Gary Waddock felt both pride and relief after their promotion to the Football League was finally confirmed on Tuesday.
"I'm just so proud of the lads, and pleased for everyone at the club," he said after the 1-1 draw with Exeter.
"We had chances early on, but Exeter scored, so we needed a bit of luck - and I was delighted for Scott Donnelly who got the equaliser.
"And our keeper Nikki Bull was more like Nikki Banks than Nikki Bull."
The Shots' promotion comes 16 years after predecessors Aldershot FC, then a Football League club, were forced to fold because of financial problems.
