Andy Goram ended his playing career with Elgin |
Former Hibernian, Rangers and Scotland star Andy Goram has been appointed by First Division Airdrie United as their goalkeeping coach. Goram became goalkeeping coach at Motherwell in 2002 but returned briefly to playing with Elgin City the following season.
He has been helping at Airdrie for a couple of weeks, but the arrangement has now been formalised for the season.
Goram becomes Airdrie's first-ever specialist goalkeeping coach.
"We have long felt that our goalkeepers' development was being hindered by not having specialist advice and coaching available to them on a weekly basis," said a statement on the club website.
"Recently, the opportunity arose to secure Andy's services and we jumped at the chance.
"Andy is probably one of the best, if not the best Scottish goalkeeper for many years and his knowledge and experience will be of tremendous benefit to our young keepers.
"At a time when resources are hard to find, we are delighted to have tied Andy up on a deal that will be at no direct cost to the club for the remainder of this season."
