McGhee felt his strikers lacked composure in the defeat by Kilmarnock
Aberdeen manager Mark McGhee felt his side were punished for poor finishing after losing a late goal in their 1-0 league defeat by Kilmarnock.
Jamie Hamill's injury-time winner at Pittodrie ended Aberdeen's unbeaten start to the season.
I don't think our strikers played well enough," McGhee told BBC Scotland.
"You're only as good as your strikers and you need people to get up there and put the ball in the back of the net. We didn't do that."
The defeat means Aberdeen lose their 100% league record and slip from the top of the table to third, after Rangers secured a home win against St Johnstone.
The goal aside, there were other aspects that were more disappointing for me

McGhee believed his side should have taken more from their early build-up play and struggled to contain a counter-attacking Kilmarnock side.
"We could have kept it 0-0, so you can't deny anyone who scores a winning goal doesn't deserve it," said McGhee.
"My disappointment wasn't so much in losing a late second goal, which was a body blow.
"It was more in the first half, where we dominated the game and had a lot of possession in their box and didn't turn it into chances and goals.
"But, the goal aside, there were other aspects that were more disappointing for me."
