Aberdeen rule out Lee Hendrie & Robbie Williams moves

Aberdeen will not be signing midfielder Lee Hendrie or defender Robbie Williams after the pair's trials at the club.

The arrival of Paul Hartley on a free transfer from Bristol City has scuppered Hendrie's chances of a deal.

Dons manager Mark McGhee has also decided against signing former Huddersfield Town defender Williams.

McGhee is likely to turn his attention to finding a replacement for left-back Charlie Mulgrew, with former Charlton defender Grant Basey in the frame.

Basey, a Wales Under-21 international who had a loan spell with Brentford in 2007, made 22 appearances for League One outfit Charlton last season after the 21-year-old emerged from the London club's youth team.

Hendrie, 33, is searching for a new club after leaving Derby County. The midfielder, who began his career at Aston Villa and has one England cap, ended last season on loan to Brighton in League One.
