Aberdeen keen on Swansea's Dobbie

Aberdeen manager Mark McGhee has revealed his interest in Swansea striker Stephen Dobbie.

"I'm a fan of his and we have asked about his availability, and it is possible he could come here," said McGhee, when quizzed about Dobbie.

"He's the type of player who is different from the type of strikers we have here already."

McGhee also indicated that he would be willing to loan Michael Paton to Dundee for the rest of the season.

The First Division leaders are keen on taking the 20-year-old striker, who signed a new three-year deal at Pittodrie just before Christmas.

Paton scored twice against Dundee in Aberdeen's Co-operative Insurance Cup defeat at Dens Park in September and has featured 17 times for the Dons this term.

"I think it's important he plays games," McGhee said of the young forward.

Dobbie joined Swansea under freedom of contract in the summer but has made just nine outings for the Championship side, scoring three goals.

The 27-year-old had spells at Rangers, Hibernian and St Johnstone before finding his shooting boots at Queen of the South.

The Dumfries club picked him up after a successful loan spell at Dumbarton and the First Division side were rewarded with 47 goals in 83 appearances.

McGhee tried to sign Dobbie for former club Motherwell but the forward chose Swansea ahead of a host of interested clubs.
