McGhee mulls over Czech tactics

Aberdeen manager Mark McGhee
McGhee has used pre-season friendlies to try out different tactics

Aberdeen manager Mark McGhee says he has yet to decide his side's formation ahead of Thursday's Europa League qualifier against Sigma Olomouc.

McGhee employed different tactics in the 1-1 friendly draw with Dundee and is mulling over his approach for the Czech outfit's visit to Pittodrie.

"Can we play 4-3-3 or must we play 4-4-2? We'll go away to look at it and talk about it," he told BBC Scotland.

Defender Zander Diamond is expected to shake off a knock to face the Czechs.

"Zander came off in the second half with a bit of a sciatic problem, but I don't see it being a problem for Thursday night," said McGhee.

"I think we've got more than we saw today (against Dundee) in the sense of our shape and what we feel is our strongest team."

The Aberdeen manager hopes to sign Amiens defender Reda Johnson in time to face Sigma Olomouc and has targeted a goalkeeper to provide competition for Jamie Langfield.
