Aberdeen assistant Jimmy Nicholl laughed off the suggestion that he should take over from the manager every week after the 2-1 win over Hibernian.
Nicholl led the team while Jimmy Calderwood was on a scouting mission.
But the assistant said: "We have been in this situation before a couple of times at Dunfermline and then here.
"Jimmy did the work with the boys on Thursday and they knew their jobs and did it. Over all, I thought their performance was excellent."
Aberdeen came back from a goal behind to claim a victory that is a blow to Hibs' chances of finishing third and qualifying for the Uefa Cup.
"The fact that they cam from one goal behind against the run of play shows how they were going about their business," said Nicholl, whose side finished the game playing against nine men.
"The sendings-off helped us, but over all I thought we had a grip on the game and should have scored more."
