Calderwood will get a second chance in a semi-final this season

Aberdeen manager Jimmy Calderwood was delighted after the 1-0 Scottish Cup replay win at Celtic Park took his side to the semi-finals.

"We rode our luck at times but you need that away from home against the Old Firm," he told BBC Sport after Darren Mackie's goal secured victory.

"Celtic started really well but we were well-organised in the second half.

"We got the break - Darren has been a bit of a talisman for us - and we managed to hang on."

The Dons will now face Queen of the South in the last four.

And Calderwood knows his side will need another good performance against the First Division side as he aims to atone for a poor showing against Dundee United in the semi-finals of the CIS Insurance Cup.

"We didn't show up in the CIS Cup semi-final and we got what we deserved, which was nothing," he added.

"I'm sure Queen of the South would rather be facing us than Celtic

"But if the right Aberdeen turns up then we have a good chance."

Goal hero Mackie has been hampered by injuries this season but he was on hand to tuck away his first domestic goal of the campaign.

"Coming to Celtic Park is always difficult," said the striker.

"We were down after the first game but we fought well and we're through.

"The game just seemed to go on and on but the boys put in a great shift."
