Calderwood was disappointed by his team's display at Fir Park |
Aberdeen manager Jimmy Calderwood was fuming after losing a last-minute goal to draw 1-1 with Gretna. "We didn't deserve to win the game. A performance like that isn't acceptable," said Calderwood.
"It's usually down to attitude. Just because you get a great result against Copenhagen doesn't mean you come down here and beat Gretna.
"You can tell them until you're blue in the face but if they won't listen there's not much you can do."
Aberdeen went ahead with just four minutes remaining but went on to concede a penalty, which was missed, and a stoppage time goal.
"You can't just turn up and expect to win football matches," added Calderwood.
"The players know what they are supposed to do before the game. They go out with a game-plan but the first thing you've got to do is match your opponents. I don't think enough of our players did that.
"I don't like us not playing good football but on top of that they were all over us and we couldn't handle it. That's the worst thing.
"We got to grips with it a little bit in the second half but unless you start games in the right way you're going to get punished.
"It's no excuse that we're missing a few players. You should still be able to miss a few players and win a game.
"The fans were brilliant and they won't be happy. But neither is the manager - and that's an understatement."
