Touzani has not for the Dons played since 26 August |
Aberdeen will be without Karim Touzani for a further six weeks after the defender suffered a breakdown in his recuperation from a hamstring problem. The 26-year-old Dutchman has been missing since late August but had hoped to return this weekend.
Dons manager Jimmy Calderwood said: "It is a massive blow because we need to have our best players fit if we are going to achieve something this season.
"I thought there was a chance that he would be fit for Sunday."
After first suffering the injury Touzani spent two weeks out of action, before making a brief comeback against Dunfermline on 26 August, when he had to be replaced after only 19 minutes.
Calderwood conceded Touzani rushed back to fitness too quickly on that occasion, but insists there was nothing wrong with the player's latest comeback attempt.
He added: "Karim was doing really well and this was nothing like the first time he came back into the side where he pushed himself too hard.
"It is just a case of his problem recurring again and it is a shock.
"This time, the injury is a little bit higher up the leg and muscles are strange things, so we need to be very careful in how we treat it."
