Smith has dismissed fears that his season is over |
Aberdeen's Jamie Smith has dismissed fears his season is over after injury forced him to withdraw from Scotland's squad to play Switzerland next week. "I'm waiting to go for further tests to
determine the full extent of the damage." he said.
"One thing is certain, I will play again this season. I'm very confident of that."
The midfielder was called up on Monday by boss Walter Smith for the Hampden friendly before his sudden withdrawal.
Smith pulled up in the closing stages of Saturday's Scottish Premier
League win over Falkirk and could miss at least a month.
"I could be out for a few weeks, a month or a lot longer, so I'll just have to wait and find out what is going to happen," he told Aberdeen's website.

"I have had an initial test but need to have a more detailed examination to
see how things are. "Injuries are part and parcel of the game and I'll be doing my best to get
back as soon as possible."
Twice-capped Smith, the Dons top scorer this season with nine goals, played
his last international against Austria in April 2003 and had been stunned by his
inclusion in the squad.
However, the 25-year-old is hoping to force his way back into the
international scene in the future.
"It was a strange day for me, starting off with the pleasant
surprise of a call-up," he said.
"I didn't know much about it and wasn't expecting it, but it was a boost.
"It's been a bit of a bitter sweet feeling but it's fantastic to know that
I'm back in the thoughts of the Scotland manager."
Smith, recruited from Dutch side Den Haag last summer, has shone for Jimmy Calderwood's team and believes his call-up can also be good news for his Pittodrie team-mates.
"My call-up for Scotland certainly proves that Walter Smith has been watching Aberdeen, which can only be a good sign for the other lads at the club," he added.
