By Keir Murray

1708: Thanks for following the action today on the BBC Sport website. We'll have highlights of Hibs v Aberdeen and Motherwell v Rangers at midnight, with the best bits of St Mirren's match against Inverness and Celtic's win over St Johnstone available on Sunday afternoon. I hope you can join us again on Wednesday.

1707: Celtic manager Neil Lennon says the "final bit of quality was what was missing" for his team in their late win over St Johnstone.

My Sport
bringthemonjpn on My Sport: "Well done Craig Brown and Archie Knox. Off to a flyer. Don't think any team will look forward to facing Aberdeen for a while. Really like Colin Calderwood, so feel bad for him. Maybe he should have waited and taken the Motherwell job."

1703: With Partick Thistle drawing in the First Division, the only other game in the Scottish Football League was in the Third Division where Alloa and Livingston shared four goals.

1701: Neil in Erskine by text to 80295: "Craig Brown apologists say he's left a good side at Motherwell. Where were they today? Absolutely honking. Rangers blew them away. Three titles in a row and then some."

1700: St Mirren have now moved above Hibernian following their win in Inverness and Hibs' defeat by Aberdeen at Easter Road.

1659: Celtic's two goalscrorers, Cha Du-Ri and Ki Sung-Yeung, will head off soon to the Asian Cup. It's quite a leaving present they have given manager Neil Lennon.

Full time
Celtic 2-0 St Johnstone
Motherwell 1-4 Rangers

Goooooooaaaaaaaaal
After a frustrating 90 minutes, Celtic go two ahead through South Korean midfielder Ki Sung-Yeung.

Full time
Hibernian 1-2 Aberdeen

GOAL: Celtic 2-0 St Johnstone (Ki)

Goooooooaaaaaaaaal
It's a 90th minute goal for Celtic as Cha Du-Ri scores his first for the club.

Full time
Inverness CT 1-2 St Mirren

GOAL: Celtic 1-0 St Johnstone (Cha Du-Ri)

1650: Kenny Miller almost bags a hat-trick after being found by Jamie Ness's excellent pass, the striker's shot well saved by Darren Randolph.

1650: Substitute Olivier Kapo has the home fans on their feet in the dying minutes when he knees the ball goal-bound, only to strike the St Johnstone crossbar.

Full time
Partick Thistle 0-0 Raith Rovers

1649: Ian Murray breaks into the Aberdeen penalty area and his shot squirms under Jamie Langfield only to be hacked off the line by a defender. The same fate awaits Murray's header from the resulting corner.

1649: Celtic have a free-kick 25 yards out. It's desperate for the home team.

1646: Time is running out for Celtic but Chick Young is convinced that they can get a goal against resilient St Johnstone.

Goooooooaaaaaaaaal
Steven Thomson hits another 25-yard screamer, a low curving effort, to put St Mirren in front at the Caledonian Stadium.

GOAL: Inverness CT 1-2 St Mirren (Thomson)

1642: Eric Odhiambo replaces Richie Foran as Terry Butcher tries to freshen up his team.

1641: Daryl Murphy appears to be denied a penalty before firing in a shot towards the St Johnstone goal, but referee Calum Murray is having none of it.

1640: An anonymous text asks: "How come it's always the away teams' defenders that are first to the cross when Celtic attack? Where is the hunger to score?"

1636: "I would say this has been Vladimir Weiss's best game for Rangers." BBC Radio Scotland football pundit Billy Dodds pays tribute to the Slovakian, who makes way for sub Jamie Ness.

"That's just physics or whatever you call it." BBC Scotland's answer to Albert Einstein, Brian Irvine.

1634: "He's been outstanding today, Weiss. Some of the stuff he's doing has been tremendous." BBC Radio Scotland pundit Gordon Smith

1632: Referee Stevie O'Reilly enrages the home support as he decides against a penalty as Jerel Ifil shoulders Danny Galbraith off the ball.

1632: Adam Rooney's shot is blocked as he connects with the rebound after Shane Sutherland's cross hits the post - it's all Inverness at the moment.

1631: The Attendance at Fir Park, we are hearing, is 9,731, which would be Well's highest of the season.

1629: A cross from Anthony Stokes, on as a sub for Georgios Samaras, is cleared by St Johnstone's Alan Maybury as the hosts desperately search for an unlikely opener at Celtic Park.

1628: "It's beautifully poised and it's an exciting game." BBC Radio Scotland football pundit Brian Irvine.

1627: Jamie Murphy sweeps a shot wide. That was a decent effort from the Motherwell forward.

1626: "The amount of pressure Celtic have had in this match is unbelievable." BBC Radio Scotland football pundit Chick Young cannot believe that Celtic have not converted pressure into goals against St Johnstone.

1624: "Richie Foran volleys the ball across the face of goal, but, only three yards out, Adam Rooney can't stretch far enough to make proper contact and the ball goes wide of the mark."

1623: Alan Gow bears down on goal and blasts a shot but Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor tips wide.

Goooooooaaaaaaaaal
Vladimir Weiss's quick free-kick finds Kenny Miller and the Rangers striker bundles the ball home as Darren Randolph and Stephen Craigan close in. The Motherwell keeper looks stunned.

GOAL: Motherwell 1-4 Rangers (Miller)

Goooooooaaaaaaaaal
Aberdeen are back in front as Scott Vernon gets his chest to a flashing Paul Hartley delivery to convert from inside the six-yard box.

GOAL: Hibernian 1-2 Aberdeen (Vernon)

1619: An angry anonymous text to 80295: "We've been screaming out for a right back all season and Jerel Ifil still gets the nod ahead of McNamee!?!"

1618: Georgios Samaras is brought down on the edge of the Saints penalty area by Alan Maybury, who earns himself a yellow card for his trouble.

1617: Hamilton say they are hoping for a big thaw ahead of their game against Aberdeen at 1500 GMT on Wednesday.

1616: Aberdeen keeper Jamie Langfield makes a good save to keep out David Wotherspoon's rising, angled strike.

1615: BBC Scotland football pundit Allan Preston tells Radio Scotland listeners that David McNamee was down on the Aberdeen team sheet but was not stripped and did not take his place on the bench.

1612: Aberdeen expose Chris Hogg's lack of pace again as Josh Magennis races in on goal. The sub knocks the ball round the prone Mark Brown then tumbles to the ground and a wonderful chance is gone. If it was a dive, it has to be one of the worst of all time!

Goooooooaaaaaaaaal
Vladimir Weiss weaves his way into the Motherwell box and pulls a shot across the boughs of Darren Randolph into the net.

GOAL: Motherwell 1-3 Rangers (Weiss)

1611: The St Mirren defence is all over the place and cannot clear an Inverness corner, however, when the ball breaks to Nick Ross the midfielder was off balance and put his effort over the bar.

1609: Immediately after the break, Celtic look to have more appetite about their play and Paddy McCourt instantly goes on one of his mazy runs, but sends his final ball wide of the target.

Goooooooaaaaaaaaal
David Weir and Madjid Bougherra get in each other's way and the ball is squeezed into the net by John Sutton.

GOAL: Motherwell 1-2 Rangers (Sutton)

1607: Paul Hartley wins a debatable free-kick for Aberdeen, then thumps a wonderful free-kick, which is saved splendidly by Hibs goalie Mark Brown. From the resultant corner, Josh Magennis heads powerfully from six yards and is denied by the impressive Brown.

1601: "Why could the Inverness-Killie midweek game not have been moved to an afternoon kick-off like Hamilton-Aberdeen game? It is two of the best teams at the moment but having to travel that distance during week with weather being as it is is madness." Alan in Kilmarnock by text to 80295.

My Sport
King_Pascali replies in relation to comrade22: "We're not the first side to have a game postponed for burst pipes, and the other was on police advice. Pipe down."

1556: Chris, a Celtic fan, by text to 80295: "If Celtic drop points again today and Wednesday then they might as well concede the league. We really are getting worse every week. It's not good enough."

My Sport
comrade22 on My Sport says: "Surely time to start fining Kilmarnock for not managing to get their house in order. Two games suspended, the latest for 'frozen pipes'?? Pathetic."

1552: Text to 80295 from Big Mark wonders... "Was Billy Dodds in Gregory's Girl? His excitable style of describing play, makes me wonder if he played Gregory's dopey pal Andy!"

Half time
Celtic 0-0 St Johnstone
Motherwell 0-2 Rangers

Half time
Inverness CT 1-1 St Mirren
Hibernian 1-1 Aberdeen

Goooooooaaaaaaaaal
Hibs are back level on the stroke of half-time as Jamie Langfield can only parry a John Rankin cross-cum-shot into the path of Derek Riordan, who gleefully stabs home his eighth goal of the season.

GOAL: Hibernian 1-1 Aberdeen (Riordan)

Goooooooaaaaaaaaal
Steven Thomson picks up the ball after a fine run from Craig Dargo and blasts a left-foot shot from 25 yards past Ryan Esson to equalise.

GOAL: Inverness 1-1 St Mirren (Thomson)

1542: For Motherwell, Tom Hateley goes off injured and John Sutton enters the fray.

1541: Injury blow for Rangers as Steven Naismith pulls up with what looks like a hamstring strain. The forward is going to be replaced by John Fleck.

1540: If Inverness can hang on to this lead over St Mirren, they can close the gap on Hearts to three points and increase their lead over Wednesday's night's opponents Killie to six points. Some achievement for the Highlanders, having returned to the SPL in August.

Goooooooaaaaaaaaal
Scott Vernon motors away from Hibs skipper Chris Hogg, who looks like he's running through quicksand, and squares the ball for Yoann Folly to tap in at the back post.

Goooooooaaaaaaaaal
Vladimir Weiss's whipped free-kick bounces up awkwardly and Steven Saunders' attempted headed clearance ends in his own net.

GOAL: Hibernian 0-1 Aberdeen (Folly)

GOAL: Motherwell 0-2 Rangers (Saunders own goal)

1535: A superb run by Vladimir Weiss is undone by hesitancy and indecision as his pass to Kenny Miller slows the play down and the striker's misplace pass eases the danger.

1535: Eddie Turnbull, who managed Hibs and Aberdeen, is among the spectators at Easter Road. In his pomp during the 1950s he was one of the most feared attacking midfielders in the country, with a famed rocket-shot. There's no one on show fit to lace the old man's boots...

1534: Ryan Esson makes a fantastic save for Inverness as St Mirren push for an equaliser.

1531: Steven Davis pings a shot towards goal from the edge of the box but it's a comfortable hold by Darren Randolph.

1531: Paddy McCourt scrapes the top of Peter Enckelman's crossbar with a powerful header.

Goooooooaaaaaaaaal

GOAL: Motherwell 0-1 Rangers (Miller)

1528: Celtic striker Daryl Murphy turns on the ball 25 yards out and fires for goal, but Peter Enckelman dives low to the left and makes the save.

1525: Jamie Murphy sweeps in from the left and blasts a shot right across the face of goal and wide. First real chance for Motherwell.

1524: "Celtic have not started well. McCourt has been doing not too bad, but McGinn has hardly been involved. Samaras is dropping off far too deep. St Johnstone are quite comfortable in midfield, even though they've not got much going forward." BBC Scotland pundit Murdo MacLeod at Celtic Park.

1524: At Easter Road, Liam Miller's lofted pass eludes a sleeping Aberdeen defence but keeper Jamie Langfield is down smartly to block Derek Riordan's effort at the back post.

1523: Celtic's Niall McGinn flights in a ball that evades most of the Celtic front line, but the bouncing ball reaches Paddy McCourt who nods for goal, only to send the effort wide of the mark.

1522: Lee McCulloch heads down for Steven Naismith to flick the ball towards goal but once again the Rangers forward is foiled on the line by a Motherwell defender.

1522: The BBC ALBA cameras pick up some rather ugly scenes at Easter Road, with the police wading in to the small section of Aberdeen fans to bundle a miscreant off. There appeared to be a bit of scrapping amongst the travelling Dons...

1520: Motherwell keeper Darren Randolph saves a shot from 20 yards by Rangers midfielder Steven Davis.

My Sport
bringthemonjpn on My Sport says: "Think Trump would only buy Aberdeen if he thought there was oil under the goal mouth."

1516: It's goalless so far in both SFL matches taking place today - at Partick Thistle and Alloa.

1512: Steven Naismith's header is cleared off the line by Mark Reynolds after Kenny Miller's shot is blocked by Darren Randolph. Rangers on top at Fir Park.

1511: Lee McCulloch heads wide of the Motherwell goal after being found by Vladimir Weiss's free-kick.

1510: A close-range finish from Lee Cox puts the home side ahead in the Highlands as Terry Butcher's team's fine form continues.

Goooooooaaaaaaaaal
GOAL: Inverness CT 1-0 St Mirren (Cox)

1508: St Johnstone failed to score a single goal in the month of November - the only goal the club achieved was an own-goal scored by Aberdeen's Zander Diamond.

1506: The Aberdeen defence are all at sea as a John Rankin shot falls for Derek Riordan in the six-yard box but the Hibs forward can't connect properly with an attempted overhead kick.

1506: Phew! A flurry of early chances around the country.

1505: A mistake by Celtic defender Daniel Majstorovic almost opens up a chance for Colin Samuel in the opening seconds of the match, but the Trinidadian's first touch is poor and keeper Fraser Forster resumes control.

1505: Chris Maguire bundles into the Hibernian penalty box only to blaze a shot high over the crossbar from a tight angle.

1504: Rangers are first to threaten with Vladimir Weiss setting up Lee McCulloch for a shot that is deflected wide.

1503: And the games at Celtic Park, Fir Park and the Tulloch Caledonian Stadium have now kicked off. Slowcoaches.

1500: We're underway at Easter Road.

1457: If he did, would the Aberdeen cheerleaders become the Trumpettes? I'll get my coat.

1452: Thought for the day - will Donald Trump buy Aberdeen FC in the coming year? First a golf course, then a football club?

1451: And St Johnstone line up with: Enckelman, Maybury, Duberry, MacKay, Grainger, Millar, Anderson, Craig, Taylor, Samuel, Parkin. Subs: Smith, MacDonald, Gartland, Myrie-Williams, McIntosh, Caddis.

1446: Further south at Celtic Park, the players making way in the home side for McCourt, Samaras and Brown are Joe Ledley, Gary Hooper and James Forrest. While for St Johnstone manager Derek McInnes is without suspended duo Jody Morris and Jamie Adams, Peter MacDonald is on the bench and Murray Davidson is out with an ankle knock.

1444: Shane Sutherland replaces Jonny Hayes, who has failed a late fitness test for Inverness Caley Thistle.

1442: Could Celtic be ready to sign former Arsenal star Freddie Ljungberg, who has been playing with Chicago Fire? The Swede is set to train with the Glasgow club for a few days.

1440: While Danny Lennon's St Mirren side start with: Gallacher, Barron, Potter, McGregor, Travner, Thomson, McAusland, Cregg, McGowan, Higdon, Dargo. Subs: Samson, Lamont, McLean, Mooy, van Zanten, Lynch, McQuade.

1439: Inverness CT will kick off in 20 minutes' time against the Buddies. They go with: Esson, Tokely, Shinnie, Munro, Duncan, Sutherland, Ross, Cox, Duff, Foran, Rooney. Subs: Tuffey, Golabek, Odhiambo, Innes, McBain, Blumenshtein, Sanchez.

1433: BBC Scotland commentator Kheredine Idessane says the match-winner for Motherwell against Rangers in 2002 was James McFadden.

1430: Rangers assistant manager Ally McCoist says it would be a "major disappointment" if the club lost either Madjid Bougherra or Sasa Papac in the January transfer window. Press reports today suggest they may be sold next month.

My Sport
Eleven Titles Better on My Sport says: "Tricky away tie for Rangers today and the thought of a slip-up could send Celtic top, (if they can get back to winning ways @ home) 'should' be enough to see us through - Hopefully!!"

1424: Chick Young reckons that if Motherwell chairman John Boyle had his way Mark McGhee would be returning to the managerial hot seat.

1423: There are places for Chris Hogg and Paul Hanlon in a reshuffled Hibernian defence, while Valdas Trayks starts up front with Derek Riordan providing support.

1420: The last time Motherwell beat Rangers at Fir Park was exactly eight years ago - Boxing Day 2002. It has been three years since either team enjoyed a win against the other in Lanarkshire, according to BBC Radio Scotland football pundit Gordon Smith.

1417: Rangers are unchanged for their game against Motherwell from the side that drew 1-1 in Inverness, way back on 11 December. For St Mirren, Craig Dargo returns for their match against Terry Butcher's high-fliers, having been out through injury since August.

1415: St Johnstone also make three changes to their starting line-up, with Collin Samuel, Cleveland Taylor and Alan Maybury all given a role from kick-off.

1407: What's the biggest match of the day? Is it at Fir Park where sixth-place Motherwell take on Rangers? Or how about Craig Brown's Aberdeen at Hibernian?

1400: Welcome to the live text commentary covering the four Scottish Premier League Boxing Day matches to have survived the winter freeze.
