By Thomas McGuigan

1512: So, Rangers move back to the top of the table with their first win at Pittodrie in four years. Remember, highlights of today's game will be available on our website from midnight tonight. Yesterday's matches will appear here at 1800 GMT. That's all for me, thanks for your company.

1500: "We've conspired against ourselves today with the penalty. There's no need to go to ground. But we'll further improve when a lot of our guys return. I thought we had enough to get a result today but it wasn't to be. We've got to be more professional because good teams don't allow that to happen."
Aberdeen manager Mark McGhee

1457: Two pieces of news for Rangers fans: Walter Smith says the club will hold further talks with Kenny Miller over a new deal. And midfielder Steven Davis is a fitness doubt for Wednesday's Champions League visit of Bursaspor with a hamstring strain.

1455: "A couple of bits of slackness allowed Aberdeen to go 2-0 up but credit to our boys who kept going and got the victory in difficult circumstances." Rangers manager Walter Smith

1451: "We created a lot of chances in that second half and were fortunate enough to get the goals. Even at 2-0 down, we were still confident of getting back into the game."
Rangers striker Kenny Miller, who would not be drawn on whether he will sign a new contract.

1447: "Kenny Miller is in great goalscoring form and this is probably the best part of his career. Rangers will be desperate to keep him."
BBC Radio Scotland pundit Gordon Smith

1444: "Rangers should've gone for a fourth goal. Aberdeen were causing them problems with every attack. They'll be mighty relieved to be going back down the road with three points."
BBC Radio Scotland pundit Jim Leighton

1441: Rangers complete a remarkable comeback from 2-0 down to secure their first league win at Pittodrie in four years. The defending SPL champions move back to the top of the table and the Dons will rue defensive mistakes that have cost them at least a point.

Full time
1440: FULL-TIME ABERDEEN 2-3 RANGERS

1439: "This is the type of game where leagues are won." BBC Radio Scotland pundit Jim Leighton

1437: Aberdeen frantically press for a late equaliser but after a bit of head tennis in the box Rangers receive a free-kick for a push on Lee McCulloch.

1436: We're into the first of four minutes of added time.

1435: Rangers manager Walter Smith cuts a relaxed figure in the away dugout. He must be delighted with the way his side responded to going two down.

Red card
1432: Chris Maguire receives a second yellow card for hauling down Steven Naismith and the Dons are down to 10 men to compound their misery.

1428: Rangers are passing the ball about with relative ease as they seek to see out the remaining five minutes and clinch their first league win at Pittodrie since December 2006.

1427: "Rangers have been very disappointing since scoring their third goal." BBC Radio Scotland pundit Jim Leighton

1426: Kyle Lafferty replaces Vladimir Weiss and the Northern Ireland international receives some pantomime boos from the Dons fans.

1424: Ryan Jack comes on for Aberdeen, with Derek Young trudging off as the Dons look to rescue a point with a little over 11 minutes remaining.

1420: This has been compulsive viewing: with 15 minutes remaining Rangers have turned this game on its head and are sitting deep, ready to hit the tiring Dons on the break. Maurice Edu comes on for Steven Davis as Walter Smith re-jigs his midfield.

1417: Aberdeen striker Chris Maguire fires in a low drive that whistles just wide of Allan McGregor's left-hand post.

1416:
My Sport
From Scotch On My Sport: "Man oh man. Don't know what Mark McGhee's words were at half-time but they were either completely wrong or not listened to by the players. Just terrible."

Rangers goal: Aberdeen pay dearly for yet more chaotic defending. Nikica Jelavic strokes the ball into the net after clever work by Lee McCulloch and Kenny Miller as the visitors break the offside trap. From two down Rangers now lead 3-2 and, on their second half showing, thoroughly deserve it.

Goooooooaaaaaaaaal
1412: GOAL! ABERDEEN 2-3 RANGERS (NIKICA JELAVIC)

1408: Derek Young fizzes in a shot on goal but referee Willie Collum says it's struck an Aberdeen hand and awards a free-kick to Rangers.

1407: "Rangers really are turning the screw now"
BBC Radio Scotland pundit Jim Leighton

1402: Nikica Jelavic sees his shot clip the post and go behind for a goal kick. Rangers go within a whisker of taking the lead.

1400: Rangers are in the ascendancy and you wouldn't be surprised if Walter Smith's side grab a third goal here. The Dons are rocking and they badly need to steady the ship.

Rangers goal: Steven Davis slices through Aberdeen down the left and his cross finds the unmarked Kenny Miller and the predatory striker whacks it into the net past the despairing Langfield. Game on!

Goooooooaaaaaaaaal
1355: GOAL! ABERDEEN 2-2 RANGERS (KENNY MILLER)

1353: Rangers saunter into Aberdeen territory as the hosts look content to hit them on the counter attack, but a see of red snuffs out the danger as David Weir looked to play in Kenny Miller.

1350: The second half gets under way.

1342:
My Sport
From bringthemonjpn On My Sport: "Very hard game to call now. Another goal for Aberdeen and it's over. Walter probably happy to go home with a point. Both managers will be laying out the second half tactics to their players, and kicking a few dressing room doors."

1339: Our team of pundits on Sportsound are debating the melee triggered by Rangers' penalty and whether Zander Diamond and Steven Naismith were fortunate to remain on the pitch for their part in the scuffles.

1337: "I don't think Rangers could grudge Aberdeen their lead."
BBC Radio Scotland pundit Jim Leighton

1336: "There's been a lot of last-ditch defending from Rangers. They aren't playing well and Aberdeen have stopped them from playing. Aberdeen deserve their half-time lead."
BBC Radio Scotland pundit Gordon Smith

1333: What a first half. Aberdeen came roaring out the traps to establish a two-goal lead, but Kenny Miller's penalty - his ninth goal of the season - gives the defending SPL champions hope of salvaging at least a point. The Dons merit their lead at the break.

Half time
1332: HALF-TIME ABERDEEN 2-1 RANGERS

1330:
My Sport
From realrefsneeded On My Sport: "Time to park the bus"

1329: Steven Naismith finds Sasa Papac free in the Aberdeen penalty area but the defender's header is gathered by Jamie Langfield.

Yellow card
1326: Chris Maguire receives a yellow card for chopping down Kirk Broadfoot. Referee Willie Collum has a quiet word with Aberdeen assistant boss Scott Leitch as tempers threaten to boil over.

1321: Rangers striker Nikica Jelavic can count himself a lucky boy as he is spared a booking after appearing to catch Dons keeper Jamie Langfield as he chased down a long ball. Kirk Broadfoot comes on for Steven Whittaker; nothing much happening at Pittodrie...

Rangers goal: Jerel Ifil trips Vladimir Weiss in the box and referee Willie Collum points to the spot. Dons defender Zander Diamond reacts angrily to Weiss's tumble and Steven Naismith intervenes on behalf of his Rangers team-mate. Kenny Miller keeps a cool head as he hammers the penalty straight down the middle. Diamond and Naismith are booked for their trouble.

Goooooooaaaaaaaaal
1319: GOAL! ABERDEEN 2-1 RANGERS (KENNY MILLER)

1318: Penalty for Rangers, bedlam at Pittodrie...

Aberdeen goal: Steven Naismith screws Rangers' best chance wide and the Dons break quickly. Darren Mackie plays a crisp low ball into the box and Chris Maguire nips in between Madjid Bougherra and David Weir to drill the ball past Allan McGregor.

Goooooooaaaaaaaaal
1315: GOAL! ABERDEEN 2-0 RANGERS (CHRIS MAGUIRE)

1313:
My Sport
From bringthemonjpn On My Sport: "When the Aberdeen goal went in Ally McCoist had that look on his face of a man who'd just been told his 1963 Morris Minor was beyond repair."

1311: The Dons work the ball well down the left but the ever alert David Weir mops up at the back for Rangers and Vladimir Weiss launches a counter-attack which peters out: the pace and intensity are building nicely, with 27 minutes on the clock.

1309: "Aberdeen are leading and doing well. They're getting everyone back when the don't have the ball and it's making it difficult for Rangers to play through them. It's good to see the Old Firm being forced to play." BBC Radio Scotland pundit Gordon Smith

1308: Rangers are building the pressure and Aberdeen goalscorer Scott Vernon shows his defensive qualities as he heads away a dangerous Vladimir Weiss free-kick.

1305: The atmosphere is crackling at Pittodrie and the Rangers fans are unhappy with referee Willie Collum as midfielder Lee McCulloch claims he's being fouled on the edge of the box.

1304: Rangers get into a pickle as David Weir and Steven Whittaker go for the same ball and the latter suffers a sore coupon as they clash heads. Ouch!

1302: Jamie Langfield blocks Kenny Miller's fierce strike from inside the area and Vladimir Weiss's dangerous cross evades a battery of players on the six-yard box and Aberdeen's lead remains intact. Just.

1300: The visitors, stung by Vernon's goal, are enjoying more and more possession but the Dons are holding firm in front of Jamie Langfield.

1258: "Rangers will be shocked and stunned at how this match has started. They know they're in a game here."
BBC Radio Scotland commentator Rob Maclean

Aberdeen goal: The hosts draw first blood as Chris Maguire plays a great through pass to Scott Vernon and he springs the offside trap before steering the ball beyond the on-rushing Allan McGregor. That's Vernon's fifth goal in four games.

Goooooooaaaaaaaaal
1255: GOAL! ABERDEEN 1-0 RANGERS (SCOTT VERNON)

1251: "You have to give Aberdeen credit, with a more attacking line-up than we thought, they are maybe going to have more of a go than we imagined." BBC Radio Scotland pundit Gordon Smith

1249: It looks like Aberdeen are playing 4-4-2 instead of the expected five centre backs. Rory McArdle is being deployed in midfield instead of bolstering the Dons's rearguard.

1248: The visitors mount another attack and midfielder Steven Davis threads a great ball through to Nikica Jelavic, but he's flagged offside. Not sure about that one...

1247: Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor arrows a long ball deep into Aberdeen territory but Kenny Miller is penalised for a push on Zander Diamond.

1245: We're under way at Pittodrie.

1243: We're having problems with the automatic refresh, so hit F5 for updates until our boffins have sorted it!

1242: The teams emerge from the tunnel and trot onto the pitch to rapturous applause from both sets of supporters. Rangers are sporting their black strip.

1238:
My Sport
From bringthemonjpn On My Sport: "Would expect Rangers to try to spread the game wide against what will be an Aberdeen defence more tightly-packed than a car full of students going to a free rock festival." Ha ha! Which band would they be listening to then?

It's sunny
1236: The sun is shining over Pittodrie and it's a cracking day for some blood and thunder Scottish Premier League football.

1234: "No Edu in the starting line-up yet again? Why doesn't Walter realise he's one of our most consistent performers?"
Luke from Plymouth, via text on 80295

1225: Walter Smith makes six changes to his Rangers side. Out go Neil Alexander, Andy Little, Kyle Hutton, Kyle Lafferty, Kirk Broadfoot, Andy Webster from the side that gave Dunfermline a drubbing. In come Allan McGregor, Steven Whittaker, David Weir, Sasa Papac, Lee McCulloch and Kenny Miller.

1220: Aberdeen boss Mark McGhee makes two changes from the side that saw off Raith Rovers in the Co-operative Insurance Cup. Darren Mackie and Nikola Vujadinovic come in for Paul Hartley and Mitch Megginson.

1218:
My Sport
From Boogie Bear On My Sport: "I expect a tough game for the Gers up there as usual. But we've got to win there some time. Don't we?"

1215: Teams from Pittodrie:
Aberdeen: Langfield, McArdle, Diamond, Ifil, Vujadinovic, Considine, Maguire, Folly, Young, Mackie, Vernon. Subs: Howard, Magennis, Jack, Megginson, Shaughnessy, Brown, Hansson.
Rangers: McGregor, Whittaker, Weir, Bougherra, Papac, Naismith, McCulloch, Davis, Weiss, Miller, Jelavic. Subs: Alexander, Broadfoot, Edu, Lafferty, Webster, Little, Hutton.
Referee: William Collum

1210: "We haven't got the best of records up here in recent seasons and we are planning, with Weissy on the wing, to have a real go at Aberdeen today." Rangers assistant manager Ally McCoist

1207: The last time Rangers made the journey back to Glasgow with three points on the team bus was 23 December 2006. Nacho Novo and Libor Sionko were on target for Paul Le Guen's side that day in a 2-1 victory.

1205: Manager Walter Smith hasn't won a league game at Pittodrie since returning to Rangers for his second spell in charge.

1200: Good afternoon and welcome to our coverage of Aberdeen v Rangers at Pittodrie.
