1450: Our text system is going into meltdown! Football fans, thanks for your company this afternoon. Look out for the highlights and post-match reaction stories on the BBC Sport website. Bye.
1447: Rangers manager Walter Smith pays credit to the Celtic defence. He feels the first half was evenly balanced.
Referee Kenny Clark, a guest on Sportsound, is attracting a large amount of texts from angry Celtic fans. "Why have a referee on the programme who will never say that the ref got it wrong? The ref had a good game but Bougerra should have been off - no question." Donald in Inverness
TheBhoyInKorea on My Sport "Rangers always looked the more dangerous and likely to score. That said, the sending off was poor and most Rangers fans on here agreed. It's time for TM to go. I've backed him but he seems to be losing the plot. It is now your team, Tony, and you're going backwards - quickly. Considering we had to win, it was a poor showing even with 11 men."
1438: You can see the highlights of the game on the BBC Sport website at midnight tonight. Undoubtedly, there are lots of incidents to talk about in the coming days and weeks...
And Allan in Falkirk also texted 80295: "Please, Mr Mowbray, go now. Your team of losers is dragging my club into the gutter. Shambles."
Dave Wilson in Ayrshire by text to 80295: "It is said that the luck evens out over the season. Sending off was soft. Bougherra should have walked. I don't think there is a conspiracy but I can see where the Celtic fans are coming from."
1432: "Kyle Lafferty made a meal of it but the question has to be what was Scott Brown doing thrusting his head into Lafferty's chest." Former referee Kenny Clark on BBC Radio Scotland's Sportsound
1431: Rangers' match-winner Maurice Edu describes the win as a "massive step" towards defending the SPL title.
1429: What incredible drama to end the match. Rangers are 10 points clear with a game in hand. Artur Boruc was beaten after a fantastic performance in goal for Celtic. Ibrox is bouncing.
Full-time Rangers 1-0 Celtic
Maurice Edu bundles the ball over the line from close range after Artur Boruc saves from Kris Boyd from point-blank range.
GOAL Rangers 1-0 Celtic
1425: Astonishing save by Artur Boruc from Sasa Papac low to his right.
1424: Three minutes of injury-time.
1422: The boos ring round Ibrox as Rangers do not contest the drop ball and Diomansy Kamara kicks the ball out for a throw-in deep into Rangers' half. Walter Smith is not impressed.
1421: It's a drop ball after Landry N'Guemo receives treatment for a head knock.
1420: Andreas Hinkel averts the danger for Celtic from Kenny Miller with only three minutes remaining.
1419: Corners number eight and nine produce the square root of zero for the home side.
1418: Kris Boyd is making a nuisance of himself, winning Rangers' seventh corner of the match. Celtic have yet to have one.
1416: And at the other end, a cross from the left by Sasa Papac is met on the half-volley by Maurice Edu, who knocks it over Artur Boruc's crossbar.
1416: Celtic's Dutch full-back Edson Braafheid, on loan from Bayern Munich, has had too much porridge for his breakfast by the looks of things. He skelps the free-kick over the heads of his team-mates waiting in the box.
1413: Celtic have a free-kick out on the right, about 25 yards from goal.
1412: Celtic desperately need a goal to close the gap at the top of the SPL to four points, but it's Rangers who are looking the more dangerous.
1411: Steven Davis tries his luck from distance but Artur Boruc looks unbeatable today.
knolte on My Sport "We should have Bougherra subbed before we go down to 10 men too..."
1408: Come on! Let's have a goal and some good football rather than crunching tackles in the last 15 minutes.
1406: Pass the hankies - some eye-watering moments on the Ibrox turf. First Madjid Bougherra fells Robbie Keane - again - then Landry N'Guemo delivers a blow to Kris Boyd's "middles". Nurse!
1406: Rangers defender Steven Whittaker blows the chance to split the Celtic defence, passing straight to the opposition, who were stretched.
1403: Kyle Lafferty is replaced by Nacho Novo. I think that is for the best.
1400: What a controversial decision that is! Kyle Lafferty and Scott Brown collide as the ball is cleared and the Celtic player, at best, wrestles with the tall Northern Ireland striker. I can only assume Dougie McDonald thought Brown had head-butted his opponent. It looked as though Brown put his head into Lafferty's chest, like you'd see when a small boxer goes into a clinch with a taller fighter.
Celtic captain Scott Brown is shown a straight red card.
1358: This is a public safety announcement. If you live within a mile of Ibrox Stadium, duck! Kyle Lafferty has just ballooned a shot H.I.G.H over the bar.
1356: Andreas Hinkel is punished for a tackle on Kenny Miller - harsh decision on the German. Artur Boruc clutches the floated free-kick.
1354: Celtic make another substitution with Georgios Samaras replacing Aiden McGeady.
1352: Rangers striker Kenny Miller is booked for a late challenge on Darren O'Dea shortly after Madjid Bougherra breaks up a dangerous Celtic attack with well-timed tackle on Marc-Antoine Fortune.
1350: Right on the 18-yard line, Steven Davis rifles a low shot at goal, which Celtic's Artur Boruc blocks brilliantly. The Pole then saves Davis's shot from the rebound. Great drama.
1348: This is like a mirror image of the first half: Rangers are on the front foot in the opening period of play.
1346: Madjid Bougherra is penalised for another foul on Robbie Keane. He could be heading for an early bath, the big Algerian defender.
1346: Mr Weston is as animated as Rangers manager Walter Smith in the directors' box.
1345: I never thought I'd write this... Simon Weston claims for a penalty for Rangers! Help ma boab! Celtic defender Andreas Hinkel pushes Maurice Edu as the ball rolls into the American's path but the ref waves play on.
1342: If you know the ground, both teams are playing towards their own fans.
1340: Darren O'Dea concedes a corner from Steven Davis's hopeful cross, but the visitors clear the danger.
1339: Aiden McGeady is called offside as he runs to collect Diomansy Kamara's ball out to the left wing. That was a very close call indeed.
1338: Wey-hey! Bonus - we have a match. David Weir leads out the league leaders. A crucial 45 minutes awaits. Surely Celtic have to win to keep alive their hopes of winning the title.
1337: Robbie Keane and Marc-Antoine Fortune are set to kick off the second half for Celtic, but the home side are nowhere to be seen.
Satan's Pa is having a laugh on My Sport: "Mowbray says 'the SPL can't close the league after this match if we lose'. After some of the decisions this season, I would not take the bet!"
Text to 80295 from Thomas in Surrey: "Celtic have to give themselves a shake. Too many stray passes. Midfield has been poor. They need a passer in team. A wee improvement and they will win."
1329: Hope you are enjoying your half-time pie or, if you are on the other side of the world, a quick bite of supper.
1327: Plenty of drama, then, in the opening period. A disallowed goal by Maurice Edu, some rash Madjid Bougherra challenges, Lee McCulloch and Thomas Rogne off injured, Robbie Keane bringing out a great save by Allan McGregor, and Artur Boruc saving acrobatically from Kris Boyd though the SPL's top scorer was offside.
Alan in Eyemouth by text to 80295: "As a Falkirk fan I've seen very little skill on show but the one thing that's pretty clear is there are two world class goalkeepers on show. As for Bougherra, he's either going to be man of the match or sent off!"
Half-time Rangers 0-0 Celtic
1320: On the stroke of half-time, Kris Boyd pounces to divert the ball goalwards from eight yards and Artur Boruc makes an outstanding save. Neither player was to know that Boyd had been ruled marginally offside.
1319: We're into added time at the end of the first half. There is an air of tension around the ground. Neither side wants to lose a goal at this stage.
1318: Marc-Antoine Fortune had to hit the target at least there.
"I was expecting the net to bulge." BBC Radio Scotland pundit Billy Dodds
1316: Marc-Antoine Fortune is clear in the Rangers box but skews his right-footed shot wide of Allan McGregor's right-hand post. Tony Mowbary holds his head and slumps back into his seat in the dugout.
1315: Kyle Lafferty is stymied in his attempt to connect with a cross on the six-yard line by Andreas Hinkel.
1313: Mr Steady Sasa Papac brings a cheer from the home fans with a cute side-step of the fast-approaching Robbie Keane.
A prediction from an anonymous texter: "Watch this space! Bougherra to either score a solo or get sent off as he is looking a bit suspect with his tackles. Maybe even do both!"
1308: The two most talked about players in the run-up to this game produce a touch of class. Celtic's Robbie Keane connects with a sweet volley with his right boot but Allan McGregor is alert and parries the shot.
1306: Madjid Bougherra goes on a trademark run down the right wing and wins a corner for Rangers. Steven Davis's corner is cleared.
1305: What odds would you have got on a Celtic central defensive pairing of Thompson and O'Dea at the start of the season?
1303: The Norwegian centre-half goes off with what looks like a hamstring injury. Darren O'Dea comes on to partner Josh Thompson.
1302: Thomas Rogne taps the ball out of play and signals to the Celtic physio.
1300: Miller skins Thomas Rogne for speed to latch on to a ball through the middle from Kris Boyd. Artur Boruc makes a solid save from the Rangers striker's well-hit shot.
1258: And Edu's first contribution is to volley the ball into the net...but Dougie McDonald blows for handball by Kenny Miller. Correct decision.
1257: American defensive midfielder Maurice Edu comes on for Lee McCuloch.
1256: "Maurice Edu is getting stripped here. I think Lee McCulloch's had it." BBC Scotland pundit Chick Young
1255: Celtic have had the edge in terms of pressure in the opposition half, but Kyle Lafferty had his first run of the game there before Landry N'Guemo stopped him in his tracks.
1254: Rangers midfielder Lee McCulloch goes down in a heap. Looks like team-mate Kevin Thomson clipped his ankle as he ran behind him.
1252: Falklands veteran Simon Weston is a guest of Rangers today and is sitting a few seats in front of manager Walter Smith in the Bill Struth Stand.
1250: The Bosnian defender breathes a sigh of relief as Robbie Keane chips the free-kick a yard over Allan McGregor's bar.
1249: Sasa Papac concedes a free-kick right on the "D". Great chance for Celtic...
1247: Good run by Rangers forward Kenny Miller down the right but his cross is headed powerfully clear.
1245: Grass! Pittodrie and Fir Park were like the beach at Troon!
1245: Tell you what - I've just seen something that was missing at two Scottish Premier League matches yesterday....
1243: Ibrox midfielder Kevin Thomson floats in a free-kick right into the six-yard box but Kyle Lafferty just fails to connect. Howls of derision from the Celtic fans behind that Boruc goal.
1242: Madjid Bougherra is, er, putting himself about out there. He'll need to be careful, especially with Aiden McGeady and Diomansy Kamara running at him.
Dougie McDonald is dishing out yellow cards like an angry traffic warden hands out parking tickets. That's Madjid Bougherra in the book for a lunge at Robbie Keane and Marc-Antoine Fortune booked for deliberate handball.
Shetland_James on My Sport "Old Firm really is the best derby game in the world. I don't support either team but I always tune in."
1235: But at the other end, the Broomloan Road end, Rangers forward Kris Boyd is pushed wide by Polish keeper Artur Boruc and fires into the side netting. A very exciting start!
1234: Marc-Antoine Fortune takes up another good position on the right. Sasa Papac is in for a busy old afternoon.
1232: Robbie Keane is first to get an effort on goal, Marc-Antoine Fortune with the cut-back to the Irish striker whose shot tests Allan McGregor low to his right.
1230: There's a minute's silence for the late Rangers goalkeeper Gerry Neef, who died earlier this week.
1228: Both sides warm up in the tunnel before emerging to a wall of noise.
1226: Ibrox is a cauldron of noise; a sea of red, white & blue with a sprinkling of green in the Broomloan Road Stand - we're moments away from kick-off...
1223: Darrell Allen from Norwich has texted 80295 to say: "It is a must-win game for Celtic today. If they fail to win then their title hopes are over. It is a massive boost that Keane is playing."
1220: With Glenn Loovens injured, Celtic must hope that teenage centre-halves Josh Thompson and Thomas Rogne can cope with the pressure.
1218: Surely there will be goals in this one. Kris Boyd and Robbie Keane are looking sharp and the atmosphere can make players make basic mistakes.
1217: We know there are lots of ex-pats around the world who will be following the match online. Welcome to you all. If you are inside the UK, you can listen to David Begg's Radio Scotland commentary and view the highlights when they are posted online on the BBC Sport site at midnight.
1215: Tony Mowbray says he hopes his Celtic players can overcome nerves and enjoy the match.
1212: And Allan McGregor gets the nod to start the game despite being involved in an incident in Glasgow city centre last Saturday night. Ibrox boss Walter Smith, as expected, goes with Kris Boyd and Kenny Miller as his strike-force with Kyle Lafferty supporting from left midfield.
1209: So, despite worries in the Celtic camp, Robbie Keane recovers from his knee injury and will make his Old Firm debut along with Diomansy Kamara, Edson Braafheid and teenage stoppers Josh Thompson and Thomas Rogne.
