By Keir Murray

1700: Thanks very much indeed for joining me today. Have a great 2010. Hope you can catch the highlights of the weekend's SPL games on the BBC Sport website.

1658: An exciting Edinburgh derby ends with a point apiece, Hearts stay in fifth place and Hibs sit comfortably in third position, four points behind Celtic.

Full time
Full-time Dundee 0-1 Airdrie United (Kevin McDonald, 25 pen)

Full time
Full-time Hibernian 1-1 Hearts

1654: Still 1-0 to Airdrie United at Dens Park, the home side down to 10 men.

1653: Hearts' David Templeton clips a free-kick into the box in injury time but Hibs scramble it clear.

1652: Tension everywhere at Easter Road. Neither side wants to lose this one now.

1650: OK, shameless plug over, back to Easter Road, Stokes sends a Denis Bergkamp-like pass through for Derek Riordan whose attempt to dink the ball over Marian Kello fails.

1648: Highlights of yesterday's two SPL games will be online in just over an hour. The best bits from the Glasgow and Edinburgh derbies can be viewed on this site from midnight.

1646: David Templeton comes on for Suso Santana.

1645: There will be an awful lot of Predictor players hoping this match ends 1-1, I'd have thought.

1644: "If there's a goal now, it's going to win it." BBC Radio Scotland pundit Allan Preston

1643: Michael Stewart has the sense to keep possession for Hearts, looking for a chink in the Hibs defence.

1642: What a palaver. The Hearts wall edges forward until it is almost close enough to shake hands and wish Derek Riordan "happy new year". Predictably, Deek's free-kick hits the wall but Ian Murray goes close when the ball eventually is arrowed into the box. Just a yard wide.

1640: Hibs have a free-kick 25 yards out.

My Sport
macker 100 on My Sport reflects on the red-card bad boys: "What a pair of stupid idiots. Both should get at least three-match bans, and that is just for being stupid, never mind the violent conduct."

1637: Ian Black's swirling powerful drive from 25 yards is parried by Graeme Smith.

1637: Ian Murray hauls Suso Santana down with his arms, the Hearts man reacts and both end up in the book.

1636: Hearts are pressing Hibs back but they lack a good final ball. So many crosses are hitting the first defender.

My Sport
JodyMorris4England on My Sport reflects on McCormack reacting to Palazuelos's head-butt: "I always feel sorry for the player who retaliates in those instances. Obviously it was stupid, but it would take a pretty strong character not to lash back out at someone who has just headbutted you. It's either that or they roll around for 10 minutes as if Ricky Hatton just caught them flush with a right hook. Not sure which is worse, to be honest..."

Anonymous text to 80295: "Nade is not world class but recently he has been working very hard and has played a big role in our goals today and on Wednesday. Nade alongside a goalscorer/poacher and we could do well."

1630: Through at Dens Park in the First Division league leaders Dundee are losing 1-0 to Airdrie United.

1627: Merouane Zemmama is hooked by Hibs manager John Hughes (subbed, not punched), Kevin McBride his replacement.

1625: So, as it stands both Scotland's SPL derbies will end in stalemate. But there could easily be a winner in the last half hour at Easter Road.

1622: Ian Black takes the place of "baby-faced assassin" (it has to be tomorrow's description in tomorrow's red tops) Gordon Smith.

1622: Derek Riordan almost connects at the back post but is put off by Marius Cinikas.

1620: Midfielder Ian Black is coming on for Hearts.

Red card
Ruben Palazeulosand Darren McCormack are red carded after some sort of head-butting incident.

1617: Game on! The home fans are jubilant.

Goooooooaaaaaaaaal
Lovely goal by the Hibees as David Wotherspoon skins Marius Cinikas down the left and floats in a nice ball for Anthony Stokes to thump a header beyond Marian Kello.

GOAL Hibernian 1-1 Hearts

1614: Another powder puff corner from Suso Santana hits the first defender.

1611: Gordon Smith pounces on the edge of the box and volleys right-footed a yard over Graeme Smith's bar. All we need now is for Citizen Smith to catch the ball in the stand.

1609: Which left-sided defender would you rather have in your team - Ian Murray of Hibs, Lee Wallace of Hearts or Charlie Mulgrew of Aberdeen?

1607: And the second half is under way after a 20-minute break.

Anonymous text to 80295: "Nade world class? I thought it was only McDonald's that appreciated his finishing ability, no? I'm a Hearts fan, we need a striker, he is dire." Not sure who called Nade world class?

1604: No changes at half-time to either side.

1559: Forget your pie and beef-flavoured drink; my colleague Andy is spreading the festive joy with a bag of chocolate Christmas trees. Yee-har.

1559: See? Terrifying, isn't it?

1557: If you hold your ear to your PC or mobile phone, I swear you'll hear John Hughes screaming at his players in the home dressing room.

1554: Chris in Sauchie has texted 80295 to ask: "Hey chaps, what Graeme Smith is in goals for Hibs? Is it the former Motherwell or former St Johnstone goalkeeper?" The lad Smith is the former Rangers, Motherwell and Brighton goalie. The other Smith is still at McDiarmid Park.

My Sport
mem on My Sport commends young Gordon Smith: "That is how to mark a debut, first appearance in a derby game and he scores!"

1551: Another entertaining match so far, and far more evenly balanced than the Glasgow derby earlier in the day.

Half time
Half-time Hibernian 0-1 Hearts

Goooooooaaaaaaaaal
Eighteen-year-old Gordon Smith puts the Jambos ahead with a sweet left-volley from Ruben Palazuelos's cross from the left flank. Graeme Smith had no chance. Great moment for the youngster.

GOAL Hibernian 0-1 Hearts

My Sport
no1usa - 1776, 1812, 1950, 2010 on My Sport: "I don't understand why Csaba wants to bring in some players for upfront. Nade is world class, predict he will get a hat-trick today."

1544: Almost half-time down Leith way as Derek Riordan is called offside, probably harshly, as he sits on Marius Cinikas's shoulder.

1542: Well, if Graeme Smith wanted to prove his commitment to the Hibees' cause, he has just done so. The former Motherwell goalie jumped bravely, caught the ball with one arm, spun around and landed horribly on his neck from an astonishing height. Tough as old boots, he dusts himself down and gets on with the game. Yo, strikers - did you see that?

1539: Suso Santana's corner is as weak as the beverage on offer at a Brownies coffee morning. It doesn't even clear the first man. The Hearts fans groan.

1539: Michael Stewart's free-kick is cleared for a corner by Chris Hogg, as the Jambos turn on the pressure right in front of the Hibs fans behind Graeme Smith's goal.

1538: Tasty position for Hearts - direct free-kick to the right of goal 23 yards out.

My Sport
mem on My Sport: "Edinburgh derby looks to be getting played at the same break-neck pace that the Old Firm derby was, shaping to be an interesting game."

1535: Remiss of me not to credit Ismael Bouzid for closing Stokes down there.

1534: Anthony Stokes gets between the Hearts defence, rushes into the box and sclaffs a weak shot wide of the target. Bowl of porridge required for the Hibs' striker!

1533: Derek Riordan takes a long diagonal ball nicely on his chest but is stymied in his efforts to get past the Hearts defence.

1532: Graeme Smith, making his debut for Hibs after his move from Brighton, gathers safely after the move from Suso Santana's corner kick peters out.

1531: "Not a capital classic so far but so much at stake." BBC Radio Scotland commentator Rob Maclean

1530: Better from Chris Hogg, as he volleys a clearance from Merouane Zemmama's free-kick. Hearts clear their lines.

1529: Hibs' centre-half Sol Bamba is at the African Cup of Nations - John Hughes might just be considering rolling back the years to squeeze into a green and white top.

1528: "There are little battles all over the park, it's great to see." BBC Radio Scotland pundit Allan Preston

1527: Good. He is back on the pitch and quickly intercepts a rubbish pass by Chris Hogg. The Hibs defender must have been thinking about his favourite Christmas present.

1526: The Hearts physio is working on Stewart's Hans Krankl. Let's hope he will be able to continue.

1525: Hearts captain Michael Stewart is down injured, apparently in a lot of pain.

1524: A great tempo to the game, as Michael Stewart shows real determination to get a cross in from the left.

1523: Nice play by Anthony Stokes, the young Irish striker showing some lovely skill to retain possession under pressure from Lee Wallace.

1522: "The pitch is not the best. It's very bobbly. It suits the home side at this moment in time." BBC Radio Scotland pundit Allan Preston

My Sport
macker100 on My Sport: "Hibs are showing their intentions. They are looking for that one through ball to Riordan or Stokes to beat the defences."

1520: Ian Murray gets on the end of Derek Riordan's free-kick but the ball goes out for a corner.

1519: Hibs look to have more match-winners on the pitch. Merouane Zemmama is great to watch. Hibs have a direct free-kick out on the left, 35 yards from goal.

1516: Murray, who is stuck at work, has texted 80295 to say: "Great build-up by the BBC as ever about the Edinburgh derby." I take it you mean that, Murray!

1514: Hearts have enjoyed a better run of form in recent weeks, with narrow league wins over Celtic, Falkirk and Motherwell.

1513: Lee Wallace makes up for a lack of concentration, recovering to prod the ball back to Marian Kello.

1511: As always, we love to hear what your thoughts are on the game. We have had lots of texts to 80295 but most of them are a bit too, er, strongly worded.

1509: "What an opportunity, what a blunder at the back from Hibernian." BBC Radio Scotland commentator Rob Maclean

1508: Hearts pass up the chance to go into the lead, with Michael Stewart crossing for young Gordon Smith, who slides in but just misses the ball. A lucky break for Hibs after weak defending.

1506: "Nothing too beautiful too far but you wouldn't necessarily expect that in this fixture." BBC Radio Scotland commentator Rob Maclean

1504: Third-placed Hibs need a win to move to within two points of Celtic.

1503: Hibs are in their traditional green and white, while Hearts are wearing their familiar maroon jerseys.

1502: A very healthy crowd (in terms of quantity, no comment being made on Edinburgh festive diet) at Easter Road, all in good voice too.

1501: And the Edinburgh derby is under way.

1500: A great rendition of Sunshine on Leith by the Cabbage and Ribs fans.

1459: Sorry for the loss of service there, folks. A quick(ish) reboot was required there.

1450: What?! has the former Hibs, Falkirk and Celtic centre-half shrunk over Christmas? No, it turns out he is worried that the Hearts team are a threat at set pieces.

1449: Quote of the year so far... "One thing I am concerned about is my height," admits John Hughes, the Hibs manager.

1446: The highlights of today's two derby matches will be online at midnight tonight. Before that, at 1800, the highlights of Dundee United v Aberdeen and St Mirren v Kilmarnock will be posted on the BBC Sport website.

1442: Tony Mowbray denies that bids have been made for any of his Celtic players, but he does admit that some players will be coming and going in the January transfer window.

1441: Back at Celtic Park, Tony Mowbray says the history books will show that the game was level, at 1-1, but they won't record just how one-sided a match it was.

1440: Hearts: Kello, Bouzid, Zaliukas, Cinikas, Lee Wallace, Santana, Michael Stewart, Jonsson, Palazuelos, Smith, Nade. Subs: Balogh, Black, Witteveen, Templeton, Ryan Wallace, Mulrooney, Visconte.

1439: Hibernian team to play Hearts: Smith, Wotherspoon, Hogg, Murray, Hanlon, McCormack, Miller, Rankin, Riordan, Zemmama, Stokes. Subs: Flynn, Cregg, Nish, McBride, Benjelloun, Stevenson, Thicot.

1437: BBC Radio Scotland summariser Billy Dodds gives Aiden McGeady the Sportsound man of the match award.

1436: Rangers manager Walter Smith, in an interview with Sportsound's Chick Young that will be online in the next 10 minutes, describes Allan McGregor's save as "fantastic".

1435: Coming up, we move 45-50 miles east to Edinburgh where Hibs are about to face their city rivals Hearts.

1432: Celtic Park is empty now. For a decade or so, the team that topped the league at New Year went on to win the league. But for the past two seasons, that hasn't been the case. Rangers won the title last year despite being seven points behind and there was a bigger margin the season before last when Celtic pipped their oldest rivals to take the SPL title.

1429: As for Allan McGregor, that save from Georgios Samaras was world class. He seemed to arch his back and extend his back in a fraction of a second to get to the Greek's shot. Will Rangers be able to keep him at Ibrox?

1428: Was that Scott McDonald's last goal for Celtic? Will someone come in with an offer for him? All does not seem well between him and Tony Mowbray.

1426: And for Celtic, Aiden McGeady again caught the eye with his imaginative play and trickery. He should have got a shot on target when he was through on goal in the second half, though.

1425: Fingers will be pointed at Kris Boyd failing to score against Celtic again, but he really didn't get a sniff of the ball all afternoon. Most of the action was at the other end, especially in the first half.

1423: What a crazy game of football. It really did conform to the stereotype of Celtic being more attack-minded and inventive, Rangers being dogged in defence and looking to snatch something. Lee McCulloch's bullet header did just that.

Full time
Full-time Celtic 1-1 Rangers

1420: Rangers are camped in their own half, with Celtic switching play 30 yards out looking for an opening.

1420: Kirk Broadfoot knocks the ball out for a corner, right at Allan McGregor's post, with Marc-Antoine fortune waiting to pounce. tony Mowbray gestures to the fans to raise the roof.

1419: Rangers really have struggled to hold the ball today, but their spirit in defence has been admirable.

1418: We're approaching the final minute of the 90. There are two minutes of injury time to be played too.

My Sport
stardog on My Sport: "McGregor Scotland's number 1. Levein is watching."

1416: "Two minutes and 22 seconds between the goals," the bold Beggy informs listeners to Radio Scotland's Sportsound.

1415: Celtic have had eight attempts on target, Rangers have had one.

1414: "Absolutely magnificent. Allan McGregor at full stretch as tipped it over the corner." BBC Radio Scotland pundit Murdo MacLeod

1413: An astonishing save by Allan McGregor from a Georgios Samaras dipping shot - it may have taken a deflection. McGregor palms the ball over the bar.

1412: "What a finish in store here at Celtic Park." BBC Radio Scotland commentator David Begg

1411: "What a header, just plants it into the bottom corner. No chance for Artur Boruc." BBC Radio Scotland pundit Billy Dodds

Goooooooaaaaaaaaal
Incredibly, Rangers score from their first attempt on target. Lee McCulloch heads home Steven Davis' corner, nipping in front of Gary Caldwell.

GOAL Celtic 1-1 Rangers

1410: Kyle Lafferty battles for possession up front and wins a corner, which Steven Davis will take.

Goooooooaaaaaaaaal
Aiden McGeady jinks one way and the other and sends over a left-footed cross to Scott McDonald and the Celtic substitute nods past Allan McGregor.

GOAL Celtic 1-0 Rangers

1404: Rangers win their fifth corner of the second half but nothing comes of it.

1402: Wee bit of afters there from Allan McGregor on Scott McDonald (on for Marc Crosas), barging into the Australian after the ball was clear.

1401: Rangers defender David Weir is booked, presumably for persistent fouling.

1357: "Robson just went for too much power." BBC Radio Scotland commentator David Begg

1356: Robocop lookalike Barry Robson scuds his free-kick over the wall and over the bar.

1355: By jimmeny, it's like a match at Murrayfield! Sasa Papac brings down Barry Robson for a free-kick 20 yards out in front of goal.

1354: Big Lee McCulloch brings down Georgios Samaras as he gallops towards goal.

1353: News from the east of Scotland - the capital, in fact. Marius Cinikas is set to make his Hearts debut today against Hibernian at Easter Road with the on-loan Kaunas player likely to start at right-back.

1352: Marc-Antoine Fortune gets into a good position deep in the Celtic box but skews his cross high over the bar.

1352: Nice run by Rangers' Maurice Edu beyond the ball but he surrenders possession too easily.

1351: Half an hour to go. Rangers are enjoying more possession but are still not creating much in the way of clear-cut chances.

1350: Doh! I just have! Tar and feather me now!

1349: Phew, nearly used "Kris Boyd" and "Henrik Larsson" in the same sentence...

1348: Yep, not too many chances for Kris Boyd to add to his SPL scoring record - you know, the one he claimed from former Celtic striker Henr...

1348: "Kris Boyd's had a very frustrating afternoon so far, nothing to go at." BBC Radio Scotland commentator David Begg

1347: "Aiden McGeady lost his way completely." BBC Radio Scotland commentator David Begg

1345: Nicely weighted cross by Barry Robson and Gary Caldwell heads across the six-yard line but there is no player in green and white to follow up.

1344: Barry Robson lines up a free-kick out on Celtic's right.

1343: Kyle Lafferty hesitates on the edge of the box and Celtic clear the danger.

1342: Rangers striker Kris Boyd goes into the ref's book for a late challenge on Danny Fox.

1341: Aiden McGeady bursts into the Rangers box and blooters the ball six feet over. Terrible miss. He ought to have tested McGregor there.

1340: Celtic clear the danger. The Rangers fans are more vocal now.

1339: Rangers have their third corner of the second half.

1339: Better stuff from Rangers. They are now playing in the Celtic half and look to have a renewed appetite.

1337: Kyle Lafferty pokes a shot at goal and it is deflected out for a corner. Celtic break up the pitch at pace and Aiden McGeady clips a shot a foot wide of Allan McGregor's left-hand post.

1337: Do not adjust your PC or mobile - Rangers have an attempt at goal.

My Sport
Gers58 on My Sport: "All the talk was about how this current Rangers side was gonna do against Celtic. Unfortunately we have lost Beasley, Novo, Bougy and Miller - pace. That has been the key for us lately. We will just need to resort to Uefa Cup tactics and grind something out."

1335: The second half begins.

1334: "Wonderful, absolutely wonderful football. It was just like shootie-in but Celtic couldn't get a goal." BBC Radio Scotland pundit Murdo MacLeod reflects on the first half

My Sport
mem on My Sport: "I said the other week, this season was starting to look like one in the 9 in a row run, both Old Firm teams humped out of Europe, then turn it on to destroy the teams in the SPL, now we have an Old Firm game where Smith manages Rangers against a Celtic team managed by a former Celtic player, Celtic having all the chances and the possession... So a Gers win coming in the second half then a nice 2-1 to Gers, please."

1329: Rangers are seven points ahead of Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premier League, though the latter have a game in hand. It really is a six-pointer: a win for Walter Smith's side would create a 10-point gap, while a win for Celtic would reduce the gap to four. I am a genius.

1328: A reminder about the implications at the top of the table of a win for either side.

My Sport
Guntbuster on My Sport: "This is a worse performance than Unirea at Ibrox. I'm embarrassed."

1323: Rangers send young John Fleck out to get warmed up.

1322: "It's going to take a monumental defensive effort to keep this going." BBC Radio Scotland pundit Billy Dodds

My Sport
Amardeep on My Sport: "How many chances do Celtic need to score? Great run by Samaras, poor miss though. Will Rangers make them pay in the second half?"

1320: Some solace for the Rangers fans is that the score is still level. They will surely get a chance at some point in the game.

1319: I have seldom seen such a one-sided Old Firm match - not since the days of Cadete and Di Canio v Gough and Goram.

Half time
Half-time Celtic 0-0 Rangers

1316: Kirk Broadfoot again does enough to deny a Celtic player a clean header at goal, this time jumping with Marc-Antoine Fortune who was close to Barry Robson's inviting cross.

1315: "Rangers are all over the place." BBC Radio Scotland pundit Billy Dodds

1314: Rangers are somehow still level. Aiden McGeady with a low cross from the left and Allan McGregor clutches the ball from the toe of Mar-Antoine Fortune.

1313: A great piece of skill by Greek star Georgios Samara, who pounces on dithering Rangers defending, runs forward and shoots with his left foot from eight yards just wide of Allan McGregor's post.

1312: Andreas Hinkel is again the provider from the right as Aiden McGeady rushes towards the cross and heads wide from eight yards. Kirk Broadfoot did just enough to put the Irish international off.

1311: A bit of respite for the Rangers rearguard, as Kyle Lafferty retains the ball for a few moments in the Celtic half.

1310: "It's been a fantastic battle between these two." BBC Radio Scotland commentator David Begg

My Sport
sumo77 on My Sport: "Being a Rangers fan, lost respect for Lafferty after his fake injury against Aberdeen and certainly not improved since that tackle on Hinkel...should be sent off."

1307: Fans of a certain age will feel they have seen this game before. Remember Rangers in the 1990s at Celtic Park with Tommy Burns' Celtic pinning their rivals back for most of the match then falling to a breakaway goal?

1306: Andreas Hinkel sweeps in a great cross and Barry Robson's header smacks the crossbar. Rangers are clinging on.

1305: What is it with these games?! The fans are jumping up and down at the award of a throw-in!

1304: Celtic full-back Danny Fox takes a free-kick from a central position and gets plenty of power behind his shot but Allan McGregor saves comfortably.

1303: Highlights of this match will be online at the BBC Sport website at midnight tonight

1302: My colleague Billy Dodds has surely calls it correctly, saying Celtic want to raise the tempo at every opportunity while Rangers want to slow everything down.

1301: Kyle Lafferty is a very luck man to still be on the park. Referee Steve Conroy shows him a yellow card for a horror challenge on Andreas Hinkel - he slid in with his studs showing and connected late with Hinkel's ankle. Shocker.

1259: Barry Robson fluffs a volley from close range. It was on his "wrong foot" - his right - and there was no control.

1258: And it's Marc-Antoine Fortune who is causing the Rangers defence some concern. Twice in three minutes he has been called offside, both close decisions. His pace must have David Weir dreaming of a retirement home.

My Sport
Ibrox-BristolBranch on My Sport: We are well under the cosh here, I still fancy us nicking a win from somewhere, though!

1254: But replays show that the big striker collided with Rangers goalkeeper's Allan McGregor's outstretched arm before making his header. A sore one for Celtic - McGregor barely protested at the challenge.

1253: Well, that was a hugely controversial decision. The ball came in from the left and Fortune rose to head home.

1250: "I think that's a goal. He's lucky there, McGregor." BBC Radio Scotland pundit Billy Dodds

1249: Celtic have a goal disallowed.

1248: Ouch! Marc-Antoine Fortune clatters Lee McCulloch as the pair challenge for a high ball.

1247: "Celtic are passing really well and doing everything quickly." BBC Radio Scotland pundit Murdo MacLeod

1245: If chaos can have a discernible pattern, it's this: Celtic are playing short passes in midfield at a high tempo and working their way forward, while Rangers are getting the tackles in on the 18-yard line.

My Sport
bringthemonjpn on My Sport: "Boyd looks like he's been losing weight and gaining hair. Amazing what team doctors can do these days."

1243: Celtic have their tails up. Aiden McGeady, as expected, looks likely and ready and willing to torment the Light Blues' defence.

1242: Nacho Novo is helped up the tunnel. He never recovered from the collision with Georgios Samaras.

1241: Nacho Novo's contribution is over as Maurice Edu prepares to come on for Rangers. The American has had just 16 minutes of game time this season.

My Sport
LeveinsTartanArmy on My Sport: "Just saw Gordon Strachan in the stand. Bet he's wishing he was manager in that Celtic dugout today and not 5 points off a play-off place in the Championship."

1239: "Just now Rangers are on the back-foot after they had a decent start." BBC Radio Scotland Murdo MacLeod

1238: Rangers clear the Celtic midfielder's corner and Nacho Novo is injured in a collision with Georgios Samaras.

1237: Barry Robson with a Celtic corner...

1236: Good pressure by Celtic, especially by Aiden McGeady down the left. Rangers are struggling to clear.

My Sport
1235: This red card business for Rangers striker Kenny Miller in midweek won't die down. A Paisley Buddie on My Sport says: "I've just watched the Miller incident again in slow motion, he clearly hits Dodds in the face and makes an attempt to kick him as well. I cannot understand your panel, the ref was correct."

1233: "It just wouldn't break for any Rangers player at the edge of the box." BBC Radio Scotland pundit Murdo MacLeod on an early foray by the visitors into the Celtic box.

1232: I'm trying to see if any players are wearing gloves. Nah, they are all too tough.

1231: It's -2 degrees in the ground, though it will feel a lot colder than that if your opponents score a goal.

1230: The match kicks off.

1229: If you are in the UK, you'll be able to hear the Radio Scotland commentary provided by the Sportsound team, headed by the incomparable David Begg... Oh, who am I kidding, he's miles better than the legendary Motty! Just listen to how he cranks up the excitement.

1228: The teams are in the tunnel; we're almost ready!

1226: Celtic look to have a stronger bench than Rangers: it's like mahogany v chipboard. With Rangers' injuries, there are quite a few youngsters in their list of subs.

1225: The Celtic fans are belting out You'll Never Walk Alone, scarves held high. Despite the early kick-off time, it's a great atmosphere.

1222: Wherever you are around the UK or around the world - whether you're a Celtic fan in Florida, a Rangers supporter in Brisbane, a Hibs fan in an oil rig in the North Sea or a Jambo in Sussex, enjoy the games and be sure to join the chat on My Sport.

1220: I've just seen TV pictures of Rod Stewart in the Celtic stand with his beautiful wife towering over him.

1218: Although with any luck, football might just break out and we'll all be entertained with some skill from the likes of Aiden McGeady, Steven Davis, Derek Riordan and Michael Stewart throughout the afternoon.

1217: I am not Aled Jones and this is not Songs of Praise. This may well be a typical day of blood and snotter football on the Celtic Park and Easter Road pitches.

1216: Methinks it might be worth issuing a health warning...

1215: "I think Willie Collum got it totally wrong." BBC Radio Scotland pundit Murdo MacLeod reflects on Kenny Miller's red card against Dundee United, which puts him out of today's game.

1213: Walter Smith has had to contend with the loss of forward Kenny Miller through suspension and defender Madjid Bougherra to international duty. Youngster Danny Wilson comes into defence to partner veteran skipper David Weir. Steven Whittaker is in for Miller but starts in midfield, with Kyle Lafferty pushing up front alongside Kris Boyd.

1212: So Tony Mowbray has brought Gary Caldwell back from suspension to take his place in the Celtic defence. Stephen McManus drops to the bench along with striker Scott McDonald, with Marc-Antoine Fortune starting in attack alongside Georgios Samaras.

1210: Don't forget to get your predictions in at The Predictor.

1208: And Rangers go with: McGregor, Broadfoot, Weir, Wilson, Papac, Lafferty, Davis, McCulloch, Whittaker, Novo, Boyd. Subs: Alexander, Edu, Smith, Fleck, Little, Ness, Wylde.

1207: The Old Firm derby is coming up in just over 20 minutes. The Celtic team is as follows: Boruc, Hinkel, Caldwell, Loovens, Daniel Fox, McGeady, Crosas, N'Guemo, Robson, Samaras, Fortune. Subs: Zaluska, McManus, McDonald, McGinn, Zhi, Thompson, Caddis.

1205: Happy New Year to you all. Delighted you can be online or connected through your mobile phone to the live text commentary on the action at Celtic Park and Easter Road today.

1200: Welcome to the new year's derby Sunday in the Scottish Premier League!
