Loovens will miss one match for his challenge at Ibrox
Rangers forward Kyle Lafferty will miss the first three games of the new season after being hit with a two-match ban for feigning injury.
Lafferty, who was already suspended for the opening day, got Aberdeen's Charlie Mulgrew sent off with his simulation.
The player later apologised for his behaviour and was fined by Rangers, while Mulgrew's red card was rescinded.
Celtic defender Glenn Loovens is to contest a one-game ban for a challenge on Rangers' Maurice Edu at Ibrox.
Loovens caught Edu with his studs after making a clearance in the final Old Firm derby of last season, while Lafferty collapsed to the turf clutching his face as if he had been head-butted when Aberdeen visited Ibrox on 16 May.
Both incidents were missed by the match officials and the Scottish Football Association used the precedent set by Uefa when it used video evidence to suspend Lithuanian winger Saulius Mikoliunas for diving against Scotland two years ago.
Meanwhile, using the same process, it was decided that Celtic striker Scott McDonald had no case to answer regarding a challenge on Dundee United skipper Lee Wilkie, also in May.
Lafferty will have seven days to decide if he also wants to appeal against his suspension.
