Morais (left) was on target with two fine strikes for Inverness
Inverness moved up two places to ninth in the SPL after coming from behind to beat St Mirren at home.
The visitors got off to a dream start when Andy Dorman pounced on a loose ball in the area to score with seven minutes played.
Inverness came back into the match and Filipe Morais finished off a good move with a fine volley before half-time.
And within two minutes of the restart Morais got his second with a sweeping effort that skidded past Mark Howard.
The victory eases Caley Thistle's relegation worries, but worsens St Mirren's - who have not won a league match in 2009.
The opening stages of the match were played at high pace with both teams eager to get some vital points in their attempts to climb clear of drop zone.
And with just seven minutes on the clock St Mirren took the lead through Dorman.
Inverness defender Lionel Djebi-Zadi's failure to control the ball inside his penalty area, the ball broke kindly to the Welshman who coolly side-footed past Michael Fraser from 10 yards.
It took about 25 minutes for Inverness to get into their stride, Grant Munro made Mark Howard save at the post with a header from Dougie Imrie's corner.
As the home side started to string passes together Imrie fired a low shot from the edge of the box that went a yard wide of the post.
And Inverness were rewarded for their endeavour with a well-worked goal five minutes before the break.
Munro's diagonal ball was teed up for Morais via touches by David Proctor and Imrie, and the Portuguese cracked a sweet volley inside the post from the edge of the box.
In the second half the Highlanders picked up where they left off, and within two minutes they took the lead.
Morais received the ball in the box and swept in a low shot along the greasy surface past Howard from just inside the box.
St Mirren substitute Stephen McGinn should have levelled on 67 minutes, but wasted a good header from Billy Mehmet's cross.
Saints 'keeper Howard might have done better at the goal, and with 20 minutes remaining he was nearly punished for leaving his box, but Imrie's goal-bound effort was cleared by Scott Cuthbert.
Dorman should have drawn St Mirren level on 75 minutes, but despite reacting fastest to Jim Hamilton's parried shot he could only crash his shot off the bar from yards out.
Inverness were required to defend desperately in the closing stages as St Mirren pressed hard for the equaliser, but the Paisley side could not make the breakthrough and Terry Butcher's side held out for a precious win.
Inverness CT manager Terry Butcher: "We didn't play hardly until after the first half and hour and we were 1-0 down.
"But then we started to play some decent football and got the goal before half-time.
"We had to start the second half a lot better, which we did, got the second goal and then try and hit them on the break and defend with our lives.
"I was thinking of starting Andy Barrowman, but I saw enough of Felipe Morais in two days of training this week to start him.
"Call it luck or gut instinct, but I saw something special in him this week, and he scored two great goals from two difficult positions.
"The three points are huge for us, but there's still a lot of hard work to do before we're safe."
St Mirren manager Gus MacPherson: "We're bitterly disappointed to lose especially after taking the lead. But nothing's decided and we're all still very close together at the bottom of the table.
"For some reason the boys' heads seemed to go down after we lost a really poor first goal.
"Then they got a goal early in the second half and you could see the lift that gave them.
"We said that between now and the end of the season the games are going to get bigger and bigger.
"The relegation battle is going to go down to the wire. We understand what's at stake and we'll certainly be stressing that to the players."
