Fotheringham left Dundee in 2005 |
Midfielder Mark Fotheringham hopes that a return to his homeland will lead to a Scotland call-up. "I just want to get back into the fold and possibly for the national squad," said the 23-year-old who has left Swiss outfit Aarau.
And he hopes that his experience in the German Bundesliga with Freiburg and in Switzerland will attract SPL clubs.
"I hope to given the chance to show here what I learned out there," he told BBC Sport.
Aberdeen and Hibernian have already been linked with the player, who began his career with Celtic before heading for Dundee.
He won a move to Freiburg in summer 2005 and became vice-captain at Aarau after moving on to the Swiss league.
Fotheringham and former Rangers and Dundee United midfielder Charlie Miller have been using the training facilities at Rangers as they bid to find new clubs.
Miller is hoping to win a move from Brann Bergen during the Norwegian close season.
