Celtic will make another move for Hearts midfielder Paul Hartley if Stilian Petrov leaves the Scottish champions, BBC Sport understands. Celtic have rejected an official transfer request from the Bulgaria captain but the 26-year appears determined to move away from Scotland.
Hearts twice knocked back Celtic offers for Hartley, 29, last year.
And the Scotland international signed a new three-year contract at Tynecastle in August.
Celtic first made an approach for Hartley in January 2005 but Hearts held on to their man, despite the player submitting a transfer request.
Celtic resumed their interest in Hartley in July but Hearts laughed off the �300,000 bid before agreeing a contract extension with the midfielder.
Hartley has enjoyed a wonderful season at Hearts, scoring 15 goals, including a hat-trick in the Scottish Cup semi-final.
