Caledonian Stadium does not meet SPL criteria |
Scottish Premier League clubs have unanimously agreed to reduce the minimum criteria for all-seated stadia from a 10,000 capacity to 6,000. The decision was taken at a meeting where First Division winners Inverness Caley Thistle were denied promotion partly as a result of the current rule.
However, their Caledonian Stadium has only 2,500 seats.
The rule will officially be altered at the SPL's annual general meeting in July in time for season 2005-06.
An SPL statement said that "detailed consultation" would be required before the agm with the Scottish Executive, the Scottish Football Association and the Scottish Football League.
