Rangers were 2-0 winners at Tynecastle |
Rangers manager Alex McLeish is looking forward to Sunday's end of season finale but admits it's going to be a nerve-wracking day. Rangers hold the narrowest possible advantage going into the final day, having scored one more goal than Celtic.
The Old Firm rivals are locked on points and goal difference after 37 matches.
Rangers host Dunfermline, while Celtic go to Kilmarnock and both sets of supporters will be keeping abreast of how the other team is faring on what is sure to a be a tense occasion.
Before that Celtic play Porto in the Uefa Cup final on Wednesday and the outcome of the match in Seville may have some bearing on the physical and mental readiness of Martin O'Neill's side.
"I'm sure there will be a few transistor radios on the go next week," McLeish told BBC Scotland after Sunday's 2-0 win at Hearts.
It is a wonderful end to the season Alex McLeish Rangers manager |
"It is a wonderful end to the season. We'd like to have tied it up already and Celtic will think the same. "We have got home advantage and today was a really important game for us.
"To get a couple of goals into the bargain was a real bonus for us."
Defending champions Celtic have scored 11 in their last three SPL outings, while Rangers have found the net eight times in the same period.
If the sides are tied on points, goal difference and goals scored, which can happen with a 1-0 win to Rangers and a 2-1 win to Celtic and so on, then a play-off will be held to decide the issue.
The SPL have announced a 3 June date for such a match, with Hampden Park as the venue.
Rangers were made to work hard by Hearts and were almost caught out again by a missed penalty, this time by Shota Arveladze.
Gers captain Barry Ferguson missed two at Dundee a fortnight and Hearts goalkeeper Tepi Moilanen thwarted the Georgian at Tynecastle.
However, goals from Ronald de Boer and Peter Lovenkrands saved Arveladze's blushes.
McLeish insists many of his players are desperate to take over spot-kick duties.
He said: "The win was a sigh of relief. Missing the penalty again, you wondered if it was going to be our year.
"Then, we have come up with a fantastic goal. Ronald got to the near post and it was a great header.
"The goalkeeper had done really well up until then but it was unstoppable.
"Normally, Barry has been fantastic and had a great record. He missed a couple at Dundee and they are all asking to take them now. "I spoke to Shota before the game and he said he wanted to take it. Normally, he is very assured but it was a great save by the goalie.
"If we get one next week, it is down to the players. I will let them decide if there is confidence out there."
