After a season spanning eight months and 38 games, Rangers and Celtic go into the final round of matches locked together on 94 points.

It is the most exciting finale to an SPL season in many years and the games will be shown simultaneously on BBC television in Scotland.

Rangers start as slight favourites to clinch the championship.

They have a one-goal advantage over their Glasgow rivals and face fifth-placed Dunfermline at home.

Dunfermline have scored only one goal in their last four visits to Ibrox while conceding 16.

In contrast, Celtic take on Kilmarnock at Rugby Park, where both halves of the Old Firm have dropped points this season.

Bhoys boss Martin O'Neill must try and lift his players after their agonising extra-time defeat by Porto in the Uefa Cup final on Wednesday.

"There is a deep sense of disappointment - Alan Thompson was inconsolable," O'Neill admitted after the 3-2 defeat.

Celtic will be desperate to prevent Rangers securing the second stage of a domestic treble.

Alex McLeish's side claimed the CIS Insurance Cup in March, beating Celtic 2-1 in an eventful final, and take on Dundee in the Scottish Cup final later this month.

If the Old Firm rivals are inseparable even on goal difference after their matches, they could lock horns in a play-off.

Elsewhere in the SPL, the teams have little to play for other than pride.

Hearts host Dundee, and both sides are already assured of European football next season.

Third-placed Hearts are three points clear of Kilmarnock but have a vastly better goal difference and are virtually sure to qualify for the Uefa Cup.

Dundee will also make it through to the Uefa Cup by virtue of their participation in the Scottish Cup final.
