Airdrie United face a play-off to avoid relegation from Division One after Nick Phinn's winner for Dunfermline Athletic at Excelsior Stadium.
Dunfermline - who had nothing to play for - were the better side and a Joe Cardle effort hit the post.
Cardle was also denied by goalkeeper Lee Hollis as the away side dominated, with David Graham spurning a glorious chance from close range.
Phinn slotted home from six yards after 37 minutes.
Despite the result, Kenny Black's side avoided relegation after Ayr United suffered defeat to finish bottom.
They will battle it out with Alloa Athletic, Cowdenbeath and Brechin City for a place in the second tier.
