Inverness clinched promotion to the Scottish Premier League after Dundee lost to Raith Rovers at Stark's Park.
Dundee needed a win to keep their faint title hopes alive but Douglas Hill scored the only goal of the game.
Chances were few and far between in a drab first half as Dundee struggled to create anything of note.
Hill headed home Grant Murray's cross and 49-year-old goalkeeper Bobby Geddes, a first half substitute for Dundee, produced some impressive saves.
