Airdrie gave themselves a great chance of progressing to the First Division play-off final with an impressive victory at Balmoor.
They took the lead in the ninth-minute when striker John Baird fired a superb shot into the top corner.
Peterhead struggled for fluency and a Bobby Mann free-kick well held by Airdrie keeper Stephen Robertson was their best effort in the first-half.
Scott McLaughlin 20-yard strike just after the break sealed Airdrie's win.
