St Johnstone are top of the SFL's First Division and poised for promotion
The Scottish Football League is laying claim to a highly successful season.
Chief executive David Longmuir told BBC Scotland that, with the season heading to a close, the organisation was moving in the right direction.
"We've had three very competitive leagues, had great backing from our sponsors," he said.
"And, with BBC Alba, we've got live football back on the the box and getting good audiences. The SFL hopes to do even better next year."
The finances of the Scottish Premier League, which broke away from the SFL in 1997, have this week hit the headlines because Setanta is believed to want to renegotiate its television deal.
And there have been fears about the future of some of the SFL's remaining clubs.
Debtors have taken action against First Division outfits Clyde and Livingston, while Second Division Stranraer were recently saved from going under by a local housing charity.
But Longmuir stated: "For a small organisation, we run leagues for 30 clubs, plus two cup competitions, and a whole lot of other things too. There is a lot to be optimistic about."
