Collin Samuel's late strike got First Division leaders St Johnstone out of jail as they beat Livingston despite a poor home performance.
The Saints goal led a charmed life in the first half with keeper Alan Main saved by the woodwork.
Derek Holmes went close for Saints, but it took 70 minutes for a serious challenge on goal.
Chris Millar found Samuel with a chip and the striker chested the ball down before blasting in the winner.
