St Johnstone soared to the top of Division One thanks to a wonder strike from Liam Craig at East End Park.
Craig's 35-yard thunderbolt on 66 minutes extended the Perth side's unbeaten run to seven matches.
The visitors first went ahead through a fifth-minute free-kick from Martin Hardie, with goalkeeper Paul Gallacher showing far too much of the goal.
Dunfermline defender Scott Wilson had pulled the home side level after 24 minutes with a powerful header.
