Spartans are building a new stadium in Edinburgh

We are convinced The Spartans Football Club would be a fantastic addition to the Scottish Football League.

We would enhance the league in a number of ways.

Our community focus will build a strong fan base for both home and away matches. We will have 600 youngsters and adults wearing Spartans strips next season and around 1500 weekly users of our new Spartans Academy.

Our new ground will meet the requirements of the SFL and the requirements of the Scottish FA Licence scheme for SFL3 clubs and will be a great new venue for fans to visit.

Although the ground will be ready by mid-September, we will use Meadowbank Stadium for the first round of fixtures - until mid-December. Meadowbank scored well at the SFL management committee visit last week

We have been the most successful non-league senior team across the past six seasons. In that time, we have won 18 trophies and have twice reached the last 16 of the Scottish Cup, defeating teams from all over to do so.

We have had players selected 11 times for the Scotland semi-pro squad. This sustained success has helped make Spartans a household name, which we would be able to build on to generate extensive publicity for the SFL.

The addition of an SFL team in the capital city would increase the profile of the league and really help when seeking to attract national sponsors

We have a simple structure. The Spartans charity is responsible for building and maintaining the new ground and running our community programme. The football club can concentrate on football without the hassles and costs of ground upkeep

We are financially strong. Our charity has successfully raised �3.5m to fund our academy.

The football club has never had an overdraft and is sitting with a healthy cash balance to be invested wisely in developing the club both on and off the park.

The SFL clubs tell us they will review the applicants on a wide range of criteria. If so, we are optimistic clubs will vote for us.

Spartans is more than just a club. It is part of the fabric of North Edinburgh. We are a vibrant and dynamic organisation, passionate about football and making a positive difference in North Edinburgh and beyond.

The 29 SFL clubs will meet on 3 July to vote on a replacement for Gretna, who went out of business following their relegation from the Scottish Premier League.
