By Martin Conaghan

1656: Well folks, that's it for another day. Come back tomorrow for Inverness Caledonian Thistle v Celtic and Dundee United Motherwell in the Scottish Cup, along with Rangers v Kilmarnock in the SPL. Thanks!

1652: A fascinating tussle at Glebe Park. The Brechin fans can be proud of their team's performance against a Premier League side. They thoroughly deserve a replay at McDiarmid Park thanks to Roy McAllister's double. And, just like St Mirren and Aberdeen, they get to do it all over again and add to the SFL, SPL and SFA fixture scheduling nightmare.

1651: FULL-TIME: Brechin 2-2 St Johnstone.

1648: St Johnstone pass up the chance to end the day with a win when Peter MacDonald sets up Stephen Reynolds, who sends his effort wide of the mark from close range.

1647: Three minutes have been added on to the end of the match beyond the 90 minutes.

1646: Derek McInnes won't be happy with how his players have conceded goals today. At least he'll have the home advantage, and, presumably a better surface in the replay. Although, it's not over yet...

1644: "If you like meaty football, this is roast beef." BBC Sportsound commentator Paul Mitchell.

1641: About eight minutes to be played at Glebe Park. Are we heading for a replay?

1637: Rory McAllister gets the well-deserved second goal for Brechin, striking both posts as the ball crosses the line. The hosts are now dreaming of finding a winning goal and making their way into the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup.

1636: GOAL! Brechin 2-2 St Johnstone (McAllister)

Goooooooaaaaaaaaal
1635: McAllister blasts in a 35 yard free-kick, but it fails to trouble the Saints keeper Peter Enckelman.

1634: Graham Gartland earns himself a yellow for tripping up Steven Anderson.

Yellow card
1632: Roughly 15 minutes remaining at Glebe Park. Brechin are still in this tie, but can they find the equaliser to take it to a replay at McDiarmid Park. Stay tuned!

1630: Brechin's Kevin Byers turns on the edge of the penalty are and fires the ball at a throng of Saints defenders.

1626: The players are starting to resemble a group of Thai mud wrestlers, the pitch conditions are so muddy. The rain is pouring down and doesn't look like abating.

1625: A moment of brilliance from Rory McAllister sees the youngster dribble and step-over his way past the St Johnstone defence and down to the goal-line where he unfortunately runs out of steam.

1624: It's getting a bit tasty now. Steven Anderson finds himself in the ref's book for another cynical foul.

Yellow card
1622: Danny Grainger fires in a corner and Australian striker Danny Invincibile rises to bullet header the ball into the back of the net and give St Johnstone the lead.

1621: GOAL! Brechin 1-2 St Johnstone (Invincibile)

Goooooooaaaaaaaaal
1620: Peter MacDonald almost find the net, but the Brechin keeper Craig Nelson back-pedals and does enough to usher the ball over for a corner.

1618: A bit of confusion in the St Johnstone goalmouth almost gives Brechin an opening as David McKenna tries to capitalise on hesitancy from Steven Anderson, but the ball is eventually ushered out for a goal-kick.

1615: Peter MacDonald performs a hitch-kick inside the Brechin penalty area that clears the bar.

1614: Danny Invincibile almost gets a second for St Johnstone, turning on the edge of the D and blasting in a curling shot with his left boot that inches past the post.

1612: "From what I can see, he had a hold of his jersey." BBC Radio Scotland pundit Allan Preston on Brechin's penalty claim.

1611: Rory McAllister gets around Steven Anderson and into the St Johnstone penalty area, but lands on the deck and looks up hoping for a penalty, but the ref was having none of it.

1608: A high cross ball from Liam Craig is headed down for Chris Millar to fire low past Craig Nelson into the Brechin net and level the scores.

Goooooooaaaaaaaaal
1607: GOAL! Brechin 1-1 St Johnstone (Millar)

1606: Brechin's Jamie Redman gathers on the edge of the St Johnstone penalty area after a powering attack and tries to curve the ball past Enckelman, to no avail.

1604: And we're back for the second half at Glebe Park (sorry for the mistake in the half-time score folks - it's been sorted now! The correct half-time score is Brechin 1-0 St Johnstone).

1546: HALF-TIME: Brechin 1-0 St Johnstone.

1544: We now have a cup tie on our hands. The SPL side is trailing to a Division Two side and I would be very interested to hear the conversation in the St Johnstone dressing room at half-time, which is only a few minutes away.

1543: Rory McAllister steps up to hit the re-take of the penalty and fires past Enckelman. Murray Davidson was penalised for felling Neil Janczyk for the spot-kick, but the footage appears to show that it was a bit of a dive. Make your own mind up when you see the highlights.

1541: GOAL! Brechin 1-0 St Johnstone (McAllister)

Goooooooaaaaaaaaal
1540: Molloy steps up to take it, and scores - but the referee demands it to be re-taken.

1539: PENALTY for Brechin!

1536: Well over half an hour played now, and still no scoring, but plenty of back and forth between the sides.

1534: Liam Craig lines up a shot on the edge of the Brechin penalty area, then proceeds to hit it like a pensioner straight into a throng of bodies and the ball is deflected out.

1532: Danny Invincibile gets in behind the Brechin defence, but keeper Craig Nelson makes the save and the scores remain deadlocked at 0-0.

1529: Brechin's Dave McKenna latches on to an excellent pass into the box from Molloy and fires for goal, but his shot inches wide.

1527: St Johnstone's Liam Craigan blasts in a shot that whistles over the Brechin crossbar.

1525: There's not much in the way of action going on in the middle of the pitch in this tie. St Johnstone really are struggling to get to grips with the surface. It looks more like a game of rugby than football.

1522: St Johnstone's Jamie Adams earns himself a yellow card for a cynical foul. First card of the day.

Yellow card
1520: Andrew Cook halts the run of Murray Davidson as St Johnstone make a foray into the Brechin box and earn a long throw-in that seeks a blue jersey in the penalty area.

1518: "What a belter of game and what a mess of the pitch." BBC Sportsound pitchside reporter Jim Spence.

1516: "So far, Brechin have dealt with everything that's been thrown at them." BBC Sportsound pundit Allan Preston at Glebe Park.

1514: The pitch is really hampering St Johnstone's ability to get the ball under control. The conditions certainly seem to favour the hosts today.

1512: Colin Samuel controls inside the Brechin penalty area and fires for goal, but the referee blows his whistle after the former Dundee United man used his arm to bring the ball down.

1510: "I wonder what odds the three English trophies being won by three different Scottish managers?" Gordon, Killie fan via text message on 80295.

1506: Kevin Byers hits the outside of the United post as Brechin come out of the traps early and keen to get ahead.

1504: Craig Molloy takes a shot from the edge of the St johnstone penalty area and tests keeper Peter Enckelman.

1500: And we're off!

1458: Getting close to kick-off at Glebe Park. The surface doesn't look too healthy, but hopefully it'll hold out for the 90 minutes.

1450: Team news from Glebe Park:

Brechin: Nelson, McLean, Cook, McLauchlan, Moyes, Janczyk, Redman, Molloy, Byers, McAllister, McKenna. Subs: Scott, Fusco, McKay, Archdeacon, White.

St Johnstone: Enckelman, MacKay, Grainger, Anderson, Gartland, Davidson, Adams, Craig, Invincibile, MacDonald, Samuel. Subs: Smith, Maybury, Millar, Reynolds, May.

Today's referee is Steve Conroy

1433: "Dire St Mirren, cant defend a lead. Lennon is a hopeless St Mirren manager. Disgusted. Gilmour out, Lennon out." George via text message on 80295.

1426: "Arrgh! Please get Jim Spence to stop saying 'forking'! It's freaking me out." Yvonne, Glasgow via text message on 80295.

1413: Okay folks - we'll keep you updated on the team news from Glebe Park and on whether the game goes ahead.

1412: at the moment, Brechin v St Johnstone is still on, but there is some doubt over the condition of the pitch. It appears to be waterlogged. Our very own Jim Spence is helping to shovel snow and clear the water. You can't keep a Dundonian away from a shovel.

1411: FULL TIME: St Mirren 1-1 Aberdeen

Full time
1409: Craig Brown will be relieved, but the St mirren fans will feel robbed. Sensational stuff - and they get to do it all over again at Pittodrie.

1408: St Mirren manager Danny Lennon looks positively dejected at the final whistle as the Aberdeen fans break into full song. Who would have thought it not two minutes ago?

1407: Andrew Considine knocks on from a Paul Hartley free-kick and Rory McCardle keeps Aberdeen in the cup with the last kick of the ball. Sensational recovery from Aberdeen.

1406: GOAL! St Mirren 1-1 Aberdeen (McCardle)

Goooooooaaaaaaaaal
1405: And nothing comes of it. St Mirren clear the danger, but Paul McGowan fouls McGuire on the edge of the penalty area. The Saints are not home and dry yet.

1404: Sone Aluko earns the Dons a free-kick over on the far right of the goal-line. Paul Hartley to take.

1403: Josh Magennis fires for goal as Aberdeen go in search of an equaliser, but it looks like the Dons are heading out as the ball drifts over the bar.

1402: Four minutes of added on time at St Mirren Park.

1400: "St Mirren have been fantastic. They've been playing the ball about and passing. After the goal, the life seems to have gone out of their legs. They just need to hold out a bit longer." BBC Scotland pundit Craig Paterson at St Mirren Park.

1357: There's only five minutes left of the match at St Mirren Park. Aberdeen are heading home with nothing unless they can get a goal quickly.

1354: Craig Dargo breaks loose with the ball and goes one-on-one with Langfield, but the Aberdeen keeper predicts where the ball is going and gets a hand to it.

1353: Michael Higdon really should do better after latching on to a long ball, but he loses his footing when he goes one-on-one with Langfield and the big keeper makes the stop.

1352: Zander Diamond almost gets his head on to a high ball in the St Mirren penalty area, but the chance to equalise passes.

1351: It's almost two for St Mirren as Kenny McLean warms the hands of Jamie Langfield. Aberdeen are really on the ropes now.

1350: Michael Higdon latches on to a long ball and smashes it across the face of goal for Paul McGowan to fire into the back of the net. The Saints have one foot in the semi-final.

1349: GOAL! St Mirren 1-0 Aberdeen (McGowan)

Goooooooaaaaaaaaal
1348: Remember folks, this one goes to a replay if there's no winner after 90 minutes, meaning St Mirren will lose the home advantage - and they don't have a good record at Pittodrie.

1348: "It is a turnaround now as it is St Mirren who are making most of the chances, but they are more open to the counter attack." BBC Radio Scotland pundit Gordon Smith.

1347: David Van Zanten has Aberdeen on the ropes again, sending the ball across the face of goal.

1346: Higdon again! The big man leaps on to a McGowan cross and heads for goal, but it ricochets off the underside of the bar and gives Langfield a few anxious moments. No scoring yet though - but the pace has certainly livened up!

1345: Aberdeen make another switch as Sone Aluko comes on for Steven Smith.

1344: Michael Higdon fires in a superb shot from 20 yards out that has Langfield at full stretch. The St Mirren sub really has made all the difference for the Buddies since he came on a few minutes ago.

1343: Zander Diamond has been getting treated for an injured nose... suffered in Aberdeen's previous game.

1340: A double save for Jamie Langfield as Higdon and McLean test him with close-range efforts. Aberdeen out of jail there.

1339: Jim Goodwin is now coming off, with Kenny McLean coming on for St Mirren.

1338: Paul Hartley fires for goal from the edge of the St Mirren penalty area, but doesn't manage to get over the ball and his shot sails over the bar.

1338: St Mirren's Lee Mair picks up a yellow card for a rash challenge.

Yellow card
1337: BBC Radio Scotland's Charlie Mann is reporting that John Potter had returned from the physio's room with a patched up eye expecting to return to the field of play only to be told he had been substituted.

1336: "What they get with Higdon is strength up front, which is something that they didn't have. They have put Jim Goodwin just in front of the defence in a 4-1-3-2 formation." BBC Radio Scotland pundit Gordon Smith.

1335: Nick Blackman comes on for Scott Vernon Aberdeen start making the changes.

1334: "Danny Lennon was quite right. If you concede that first goal with ten men on the pitch, you would never, ever forgive yourself." BBC Scotland pundit Craig Paterson expresses his grave concerns at St Mirren being temporarily reduced to ten men.

1332: It looks like Higdon has replaced Potter. He was supposed to replace Goodwin, but the cut to his eye seems too serious for him to return to the game.

1331: St Mirren are down to 10 men, with defender John Potter off the field getting treatment for a cut eye.

1330: Rob Milsom gathers the ball on the edge of the St Mirren penalty area and fires for goal, but his shot drifts slightly over the bar. Close escape for the Buddies there.

1328: St Mirren are ready to make a change. Michael Higdon looks set to come on for Jim Goodwin.

1326: "At half time Richard described the match as dire. Flattery indeed - I'm off to wash the car!" Rick in Lochinver via text message on 80295.

1325: "Could you tell anyone who has watched the first half that Superman III is on Channel 5." Via text on 80295 from Roddy Lees in Aberdeen.

1322: "We really need someone to take control of this game and give us a contest worth seeing." BBC Scotland pundit Craig Paterson at St Mirren Park.

1319: St Mirren have only won nine times in 48 matches at the new St Mirren Park. That's a very bald statistic for you there. If I was a St Mirren fan, I wouldn't be happy about that.

1318: And we're back underway for the second half at St Mirren Park. Let's hope there's a goal or two in this half.

1317: "It has first goal is the winner written all over it, even if we get a goal at all." BBC Radio Scotland's Chick Young.

1303: HALF-TIME: St Mirren 0-0 Aberdeen

Half time
1302: A decent spell of pressure for St Mirren that results in a corner as the seconds tick down to the break.

1301: Two minutes are added on at the end of the first half here in Paisley. Nothing separating the sides as we head for the interval.

1300: We're edging closer to half-time with Aberdeen piling on the pressure.

1259: Chris Maguire chases after a loose ball and ends up clattering into one of the advertising hoardings with a thump that reverberates around the stadium like one of Rocky Balboa's punches against Clubber Lang in Rocky III. That looked like a sore one.

1256: Jim Goodwin delivers an angled, backward pass into the Aberdeen penalty area, but it ends up crossing the goal-line and out for a goal-kick.

1254: Van Zanten breaks free in the Aberdeen penalty area, but the assistant referee waves for offside and the attack fizzles out. Close call there from the assistant.

1252: As we get nearer to half-time, I think both Craig Brown and Danny Lennon will be fairly pleased with the performances of their sides so far. There's been no clear-cut chances at either end, a few goalmouth scrambles aside. They've got it all to do in the second half.

1251: David Van Zanten nods the ball across the face of the Aberdeen goal from the six yard line, but there's no striped jersey at the back post and the chance goes a-begging.

1250: Just over half an hour played and it's St Mirren 0-0 Aberdeen. This game needs a goal to brighten up the action and inject a bit of life into it. It's not exactly a dull affair, but it's low on goalmouth chances.

1247: St Mirren Jim Goodwin has a zig-zag pattern cut into his hair as though he's had some kind of strange sci-fi style brain operation performed on him. It looks like the crack of a cartoon egg.

1246: Aberdeen are unlucky as the ball bobbles about in the box with St Mirren bodies getting in the way. The Buddies clear the danger and go on a rare attack with Jim Goodwin firing for goal and missing the target.

1245: Josh Magennis powers into the St Mirren penalty area and starts causing the Buddies some problems, but the ball is ushered out for a corner and a Scott Vernon header at the back post but gets deflected wide.

1241: Paul Hartley appears to elbow Paul McGowan and protests vehemently to the ref, who takes none of it and awards a free-kick.

1229: Jim Jefferies is sitting next to former Partick manager Gerry Collins, who is wearing a fedora and sunglasses. Looking like an ageing rock star. Why on earth does someone need shades on a day like this? Snow blindness?

1237: St Mirren have edged the match slightly in the last 10 minutes, but there's not really much separating the sides at the moment.

1232: A decent attack by St Mirren results in a free-kick, taken by Travner, but the ball is cleared and Aberdeen breathe a sigh of release.

1231: Aberdeen's Maguire takes a shot from a low, narrow angle at the left-hand post, but St Mirren keeper Paul Gallacher gathers it comfortably.

1229: "The only luck he has is bad luck." BBC Scotland's Craig Paterson sums up David McNamee's fortunes with injuries.

1228: David McNamee is struggling for Aberdeen and Rory McArdle is coming on. We've only played 13 minutes at St Mirren Park. Still no scoring, and no sign of a goal as yet.

1226: "He had a good case, Maguire. I have seen them given" BBC Radio Scotland pundit Gordon Smith.

1224: Strong appeal for a penalty as Jure Travner challenges Aberdeen's Chris Maguire in the box, but the ref calls it right and the game plays on.

1222: "St Mirren don't want to be giving too many free-kicks away on the edge of the box, because Aberdeen have a height advantage in that department." BBC Scotland pundit Craig Paterson at St Mirren Park.

1218: Slow start to the match, and the pitch looks completely unaffected by the snow we've had in the Glasgow area today. The crowd are fairly silent at the moment, but I'm sure things will warm up as the match heats up.

1215: And we're off at St Mirren Park!

1213: Chris Maguire returns for Aberdeen after suspension and is partnered up front by Josh Magennis, who impressed as a substitute against Dundee United. Nikola Vujadinovic comes into defence, with Derek Young and Sone Aluko dropping to the bench and Ryan Jack missing out through injury.

1211: Some team news from St Mirren Park: Darren McGregor returns to the St Mirren defence after missing last weekend's defeat by Rangers following the death of his father. Craig Dargo is restored to the attack, with fellow striker Michael Higdon dropping to the bench along with midfielder Kenny McLean.

1205: Welcome to today's Scottish football folks. The snow has already hampered five matches in the Scottish Football League, but the quarter-final ties in the Scottish Cup still go ahead with Aberdeen travelling to face St Mirren in the 1215 GMT kick-off in Paisley. Later in the day, we have Brechin v St Johnstone - and we'll bring you every kick of the ball here on our live clockwatch.
