2151: Holders Rangers make it through to the last eight of the Homecoming Scottish Cup with a comfortable win over a spirited Forfar side and are rewarded with a home tie against Hamilton Accies.

Tomorrow night, St Mirren host Motherwell in the last of the fifth-round ties. Hope you can join us then. Thanks for all your posts and company tonight.

Cheers!

2147: "At 2-0, Forfar were still in the game. But Rangers controlled the game after Elliot Smith's sending off. For Rangers, it's a case of 'job done'." BBC Radio Scotland pundit Sandy Clark

2145: Forfar goalkeeper Ally Brown is voted man of the match on the player rater (7.73). You can still cast your vote here

2139: "Very good to see Miller and Aaron score tonight, but overall the Rangers fans deserve much better from the team. Naismith, Whittaker and Boyd were dreadful, even against such a poor team." Philosophical_weegie on My Sport

2137: "Forfar never really got at a Rangers side who are proving really difficult to break down. Up front, Rangers always knew they had enough quality to win the game"
BBC Radio Scotland pundit Craig Paterson

2132: FULL-TIME Forfar 0-4 Rangers

A spirited effort by the Third Division side who never recovered from Elliot Smith's red card for his lunge on DaMarcus Beasley.

The introduction of Aaron Niguez certainly gave Rangers more menace going forward and they were never in danger of losing this fifth-round cup tie.

2131: GOAL Forfar 0-4 Rangers

Kenny Miller heads home Rangers' fourth goal - and his ninth of the season - after collecting Kyle Lafferty's knock down.

2129: With two minutes to go, Forfar defenders Stephen McNally and Andy Tod (8.00) are the pick of the bunch on the player rate

2126: "YASS well done son!" Duke_Leblond gives his verdict on Niguez's goal on My Sport.

Forfar goalkeeper Ally Brown has been my man of the match, but Niguez has looked really impressive since coming on in the second half. Will the Spaniard be rewarded with an extended run in the first-team?

2124: GOAL Forfar 0-3 Rangers

Aaron Niguez fires home the visitors' third goal with a cool strike as he outpaces the tiring Forfar defence to fire the ball past Ally Brown.

2121: Steven Whittaker heads the ball away from almost under his own crossbar as Derek Lilley looks to pounce. Will that be the closest Forfar come to a goal?

2117: Aaron Niguez tees up Sasa Papac, whose cross finds Steven Naismith but the Forfar defend do well to repel the attack. An admirable performance from the Third Division outfit in this second half. About 13 minutes remaining.

2111: RED CARD

Elliot Smith is sent off for a shocking lunge at DaMarcus Beasley. Forfar are down to 10 men and that tackle has momentarily sucked the atmosphere out of Station Park.

Aaron Niguez comes on for Beasley, who limps back to the dressing room.

2110: "Forfar are trying to hang on and keep the score down." BBC Radio Scotland pundit Sandy Clark

2108: Forfar goalkeeper Ally Brown races from his line to head the ball clear from the galloping Kyle Lafferty, as the Northern Ireland international, on as a sub for Kris Boyd, looked to add to Rangers' tally.

2106: "If Forfar score now it will be really nervy for Walter and Ally in the last 20 minutes or so!" Bluenosewarrior - It's gunna be a long season! on My Sport

2103: The home fans call for action after Kenny Miller's challenge sends Stephen Tulloch sprawling to the turf. Just over 25 minutes for Forfar to mount a late fight-back.

2059: Forfar force a few skirmishes in and around the Rangers box, but Davie Weir and Madjid Bougherra are sweeping everything up with the same aplomb as the wee fella in the Bugsy Malone film.

A goal for Forfar now, with 30 minutes remaining, would still make things interesting...

2058: "About time Miller!" Duke_Leblond offers his assessment on My Sport

2054: GOAL Forfar 0-2 Rangers

Kenny Miller punishes Stephen McNally for a poor clearance across his penalty area with a flashing drive that gives goalkeeper Ally Brown no chance. Miller cushioned the ball on his knee before allowing it to drop and send a crisp shot high into the net.

2052: Forfar defender Stephen McNally (8.00) leads the way on the player rater. Add your vote here

2051: Kris Boyd fires the ball into the net past Ally Brown, but the striker is flagged offside. Replays show he was, just...

2049: Derek Lilley earns Forfar a free-kick 30 yards out, but Stephen McNally blazes the ball over the bar, Phil Godman-style.

2047: "Aaron should be starting... Webster as well....it's only Forfar for crying out loud." James_McD vents his spleen on My Sport

2046: Both teams emerge from the dressing rooms and there are no changes for either side. And the second half gets under way at Station Park.

2040: "Worse than Beckham's? Obviously those from Skye enjoy a joke worse than Andy Gray from Sky." The Skye's the limit for Alan_Compton on My Sport

2039: "Brilliant save by Ally Brown from Kenny Miller and DaMarcus Beasley. That's what Forfar needed tonight, a magnificent performance from their keeper." BBC Radio Scotland pundit Craig Paterson

2036: Rangers midfielder Lee McCulloch (7.50) is your most impressive performer at Station Park, according to our player rater. Surprisingly, Forfar keeper Ally Brown (6.67) is way back.

Sprinkle your fairy-dust on the player rater here

2033: "By letter of the law McGregor should have been sent off for his kick. Far worse than Beckham's v Argentina. Not even a yellow! Referee bottled it." John fae Skye shoots from the hip, or the thumb, via text on 80295

2031: HALF-TIME Forfar 0-1 Rangers

After Papac's early strike Forfar fans must've been fearing the worst. But they've managed to ride the storm and are still in this cup tie.

2028: "Beasley spends more time on the deck than Long John Silver. Weaker than an Aberdonian's tea." swlouch on My Sport

I haven't met the Rangers winger, but I do work alongside a few Aberdeen-folk and I'll pass on your regards!

2025: Kenny Miller is foiled with an impressive overhead kick by the Ninja-like reflexes of Forfar keeper Ally Brown. What a save! Five minutes to go until the break and the Loons are holding firm.

2021: Andy Tod's shot is blocked by Steven Whittaker as it's cleared for a corner. Tod then screws a shot wide from the resulting corner. The hosts are beginning to warm to the task.

2019: In 12 games against Rangers in all competitions Forfar have leaked an incredible 55 goals. Can they prevent Rangers further adding to that tally tonight?

2018: Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor aims a wee kick out at Andy Tod after the Loons defender challenges for a high ball, but the Scotland international is spared a booking.

Just a quick reminder, you can vote on your man of the match by using our player rate here

2015: Forfar goalkeeper Ally Brown produces a stunning save to deny DaMarcus Beasley after the US international breezed through the home defence.

2014: And then there was light! The wonky floodlight is back on again! Almost coincides with a Forfar equaliser, but Davie Weir steals the ball from Ross Campbell's toes as the striker was about to shoot.

2012: Rangers have six clean sheets from their last eight matches. Not much threat to that impressive defensive record so far.

2009: "Good to see that Forfar are playing defensively with a good sweeper in behind their defence - Kenny Miller" AJ_1888 on My Sport

Forfar have had one attempt on goal to Rangers' six, with the visitors enjoying 60% possession so far. Twenty minutes of the first-half remaining.

2007: Striker Ross Campbell gets the home fans on their feet, but his 25-yard shot clears Allan McGregor's bar by a fair distance.

2005: Forfar goalkeeper Ally Brown is going to be a busy man tonight. He reacts smartly to defy Steven Whittaker after another sumptuous cross from DaMarcus Beasley. Most of Rangers' forays forward are coming down the left-hand side.

2003: Some of the floodlights fail at Station Park, but the Rangers attack is unrelenting. Just over 18 minutes gone, though and it's still 1-0.

2000: As a few floodlights fail at Station Park, Canadism over onMy Sport says: "Forfar might get a 1-1 draw to earn the replay!!!! Come on Forfar!!!"

An eternal optimist, I like your style!

Incidentally, Forfar manager Dick Campbell is cutting a dash in the dugout. With his cap and scarf he's doing a mean impression of movie mogul Guy Ritchie.

1959: Rangers striker Kenny Miller screws his shot wide from inside the Forfar penalty area. It's one-way traffic at the moment.

1958: "What are the odds on Forfar scoring 4? And has anyone noticed that English people pronounce Forfar as For-Far?" Phil via text on 80295

So, for Rangers fans watching their side lead 1-0, it's For-Far so good?

1957: Sasa Papac looks to turn provider and his low cross is desperately cleared by the Forfar rearguard as Steven Naismith looked certain to double the visitors' lead.

1956: "Slightly fortuitous for Rangers. Shouts for offside but Papac was definitely played on and he finished with great composure." BBC Radio Scotland pundit Craig Paterson

Sasa Papac is rewarded for his foray deep into the Forfar box as he collects the ball from the dancing feet of team-mate Kenny Miller and slips the ball home.

1953: "Forfar have done well to close Rangers down. They're working hard and Dick Campbell will be happy with the start his side have made." BBC Radio Scotland pundit Sandy Clark

1951: Just over five minutes gone and Forfar are holding their own at Station Park. Already they've done better than East Fife who had their goalkeeper sent off within four minutes of last night's Scottish Cup defeat by Aberdeen at Pittodrie.

1948: The visitors force the first corner of the game as Steven Whittaker's cross is cleared. Whittaker tries his luck from about 20 yards from the resulting corner but it drifts wide.

1947: Rangers assistant manager Ally McCoist is directing the players from the dugout as manager Walter Smith watches from the stand.

1945: We're under way at Station Park.

1940: The last time the sides met in the Scottish Cup was back in February 2002 when the Ibrox men handed out a 6-0 drubbing at Station Park. BBC Radio Scotland pundit Billy Dodds bagged a hat-trick that day with Shota Arveladze (2) and Andrei Kanchelskis.

These days, Doddsy is busy topping the BBC Predictor League...

1935: "The Forfar players will think they have a chance. Why not? That's the nature of football. But they need to keep the ball and settle down." BBC Scotland pundit Sandy Clark

"Looking forward to seeing Edu in midfield. I say 0-3 Rangers." vanhoward offers his prediction on My Sport

Edu has struggled to make an impact at Ibrox since his move from the MLS but as he's free of injury he must be determined to prove his worth to Walter Smith tonight.

Any Forfar fans out there willing to throw in their tuppenceworth?

1931: "The Forfar players are out on the pitch warming up and they must be loving this!" BBC Radio Scotland commentator Richard Gordon

1928: Forfar have not played a competitive match this month due to the recent cold snap so they'll be a tad ring-rusty tonight.

1925: "Prediction: Forfar 0 - 5 Rangers." ihavenoname

1910: Good evening all! Tonight we are about to enjoy our third Scottish Cup tie of the week as Third Division outfit Forfar host holders Rangers in the fifth-round at Station Park.

Hamilton await the winners of tonight's game in the last eight and the Forfar manager Dick Campbell has urged his charges to ensure they seize their chance to shine.

Are Forfar capable of causing a corker of a cup upset, or will Walter Smith's side move closer to what could prove to be the first trophy of a domestic treble?

As usual I want to hear all your views as the blood and thunder cup action unfolds.
