By Thomas McGuigan

2153: So, Celtic join holders Rangers, Dundee United and Falkirk in the last four of the Co-operative Insurance Cup. Thanks for your company tonight, see you at the weekend when we have a mouth-watering SPL card to look forward to. Good night!

2150: "That game probably had everything. We made a few changes to the starting line-up, but everyone seemed to click and it was a good game." Celtic's man of the match Aiden McGeady

2147: "The draw for the semi-finals is due to take place on 12 November." BBC Scotland's Chick Young

2143: "Shaun Maloney, Aiden McGeady and Scott Brown played well and Celtic thoroughly deserved their victory" BBC Radio Scotland pundit Craig Paterson

2140: FULL-TIME KILMARNOCK 1-3 CELTIC

2137: Three minutes of injury-time to be played at Rugby Park.

2135: Craig Bryson blazes a shot high over the bar and the ball nestles in a huge Kilmarnock shirt - John Hartson-size - that's draped over empty seats in the stand behind Artur Boruc's goal.

2133: "Hope Naka's injury isn't serious. Even if he does go in January, he could be crucial in next week's Man United game." bhoywonder1983 on My Sport

2130: Celtic substitute Cillian Sheridan heads wide after a beautiful cross from Mark Wilson. Six minutes remaining.

2127: "Other than at Celtic Park this must be the ground where Celtic have won more games and picked up more points this century" BBC Radio Scotland commentator Richard Gordon

2125: Goalkeeper Artur Boruc delights the Celtic fans with a cute little flick in the box. Has he been playing Pro-Evolution Soccer on the Playstation or X-Box?

2123: "I was told Shunsuke Nakamura's injury wasn't serious, but he's appeared from the tunnel limping quite heavily and looks to be in quite a bit of pain." BBC Radio Scotland pundit Chick Young

Fifteen minutes to go at Rugby Park. Can Kilmarnock reduce the deficit for a second time?

2119: "An all-round wonderful goal" BBC Scotland pundit Billy Dodds

2117: GOAL Kilmarnock 1-3 Celtic

Aiden McGeady converts a flowing seven-pass move as Celtic hit back to re-establish their two-goal lead. Scott McDonald and Scott Brown are involved - Kilmarnock's players look stunned.

That's McGeady second goal for Celtic in the league cup.

2116: "We've a quarter of the match remaining and it becomes tasty again." BBC Scotland commentator Paul Mitchell

2114: GOAL KILMARNOCK 1-2 CELTIC

Danny Invincible fires home from close range after losing marker Gary Caldwell. Game on!

2113: Referee Craig Thomson stops play to have a quick heart-to-heart with Jim Jefferies. The Kilmarnock manager looks as though he could do with a glass of vino and the soothing strains of Chopin on the iPod.

2110: Looks as though, with 63 minutes on the clock, Celtic are happy to play out time. Kilmarnock need to find a goal to set the collective pulse racing again!

2106: David Fernandez tries to play in James Fowler down the right, but sends it straight out for a throw-in. Sums up Kilmarnock's night so far.

2102: "This has been a master-class from Celtic so far tonight." BBC Scotland pundit Billy Dodds

With just over half an hour remaining, Kilmarnock need a goal soon to stand any chance of staying in the cup.

2058: "Wilson should have been off the park tonight. That's 3 blatant fouls and the ref simply had to book him that time." KillieJimbo on My Sport

Do you reckon we'll see a red card before the end of the game?

2057: Mark Wilson goes into the referee's box for a foul on Danny Invincible as the Australian's spearing run is halted about 30 yards out.

2055: Hartley collects a pass from McGeady and his shot from the edge of the area slips just wide.

2053: "Paul Hartley is on for Celtic to replace Nakamura, who seems to have taken a knock on the knee"BBC Radio Scotland's Chick Young

2052: Second half gets under way at Rugby Park.

2051: "Kilmarnock are a 1st or 2nd division side with an SPL ground. Partick Thistle, Morton, Dundee, Dunfermline, Raith are bigger. Expand the SPL." John, via text on 80295

2048: "Anyone notice how hard Kilmarnock are trying to wind certain Celtic players up to get a reaction? Well it worked. The reaction? A superb free kick!" Meeks88 lobs another grenade on My Sport

2038: "In two thirds of the park Kilmarnock have more or less matched Celtic, but it's in that final third where Celtic are making the difference." BBC Radio Scotland pundit Craig Paterson

2035: HALF-TIME at Rugby Park. Celtic looking good for the last four of the Co-operative Insurance Cup. Wonder what Jim Jefferies will be saying to his charges in the dressing room?

2034: "There's a chance that this game could get out of hand. Every 50-50's turning into a free-kick." BBC Radio Scotland pundit Craig Paterson

2033: "Nakamura's scored a few spectacular free-kicks in his time. Add that to the DVD collection."BBC Scotland commentator Paul Mitchell

2032:GOAL Kilmarnock 0-2 Celtic

Shunsuke Nakamura arrows in a 25-yard free-kick past the helpless Combe. Fantastic strike on the stroke of half-time and it's taken the wind out of Kilmarnock's sails.

2030: "It's funny how so many boohoo this cup. However, come the end of the season, we all dance round our hand bags if our team (Celtic/Rangers) win the treble. And it takes this cup for that to be a reality!" Johnny Celtic

I don't think any football fan would turn down the chance to watch their team in a final at Hampden. Would they? Join the debate

2028: "The red mist definitely descending on Nakamura there as he tackled Bryson, clearly unhappy at some of the challenges going in on him" BBC Radio Scotland pundit Chick Young

Both teams look like they need to cool down, despite the freezing temperatures. Time for some calm words and cool heads at half-time.

2027: "Nakamura doesn't usually show his emotion on the pitch." BBC Scotland pundit Billy Dodds

2025: "Can anyone explain to me why Pascali got booked yet Wilson got away with two almost identical challenges?" KillieJimbo on My Sport

Shunsuke Nakamura is booked for putting his hand in the face of referee Craig Thomson. The Japanese, clearly frustrated by what he sees as some rough treatment from the Kilmarnock players, trudges away dejectedly.

2024: Aiden McGeady can't profit from a swift Celtic counter-attack as he sends a fairly tame effort into the hands of Allan Combe.

2022: Celtic captain for-the-night Gary Caldwell clears a David Fernandez cross, but Kilmarnock are warming to the task now. We've got a cup tie at Rugby Park.

2020: Kilmarnock's Danny Invincible does a soft shoe shuffle on the edge of the Celtic penalty area, before blazing wide of Artur Boruc's left-hand post.

2018: I've been temporarily dazed by replays of David Bentley's goal for Tottenham in tonight's north London derby. That must've been at least 40 yards.

Some of my drives on the golf course don't travel that distance.

2017: "It's getting meaty out there." BBC Radio Scotland commentator Richard Gordon

2015: Manuel Pascali is booked for clattering Aiden McGeady. The home side are getting more frustrated. Fifteen minutes to half-time.

2010: Celtic right-back Andreas Hinkel is caught by Danny Invincible's elbow. The German international gets gingerly to his feet, and takes a few steps like a man trying to walk on a ferry in storm-tossed seas.

2008: "Grant Murray should be hooked after that bit of 'defending'. I'm at a loss to how a supposed defender can get away with that sort of pathetic play." KillieJimbo on My Sport

Kilmarnock will be aiming to get an equaliser soon or risk facing an icy blast from Jefferies in the dressing room at half-time.

They're beginning to press more now. Just under 25 minutes on the clock.

2006: Kilmarnock captain Manuel Pascali is finding it difficult to get his foot on the ball. Nevertheless, he's showing in flashes that he's a class act.

2005: Aiden McGeady fires a shot wide of Alan Combe but also past the post. Kilmarnock boss Jim Jefferies looks fit to burst in the dugout. His side haven't started well.

2002: "I don't know why Celtic play any first-team regulars in a competition like this one. Can't we learn from the likes of Arsenal who give this cup to the kids - when else can you afford to blood the kids these days? The league & Champions League are worth too much now to take risks." Boylemeister on My Sport

Maybe Gordon Strachan is intent on securing the first trophy on offer this season. Clubs in Scotland certainly seem to take this cup more seriously.

1959: "And the Hoops off to the perfect start. Is their name on the Michael Mouse Cup this year?" the_bhoy_joe_going_for_4IAR on My Sport

I think Kilmarnock, Rangers, Dundee United and Falkirk may beg to differ.

1956: Goal Kilmarnock 0-1 Celtic

Scott McDonald heads the visitors in front from four yards out. Shaun Maloney whips in a corner and the Australian international rises to head home.

Killie goalkeeper Alan Combe is not a happy camper and gives his defence what-for.

1952: Seven minutes gone at Rugby Park and neither goalkeeper has been called into action. I don't envy Alan Combe and Artur Boruc tonight. A couple of star jumps to keep the circulation going wouldn't go amiss.

1951: "If Celtic lose it's only a diddy cup anyway." Knolte on My Sport

That comment rings a bell. Didn't my colleague David Sharp discuss something similar last night? Join the debate

1950: "Taouil's not complaining, that tells you all you need to know" BBC Radio Scotland commentatorPaul Mitchell

1948: Kilmarnock midfielder Mehdi Taouil dances through the Celtic defence - like John Barnes against Brazil in the Maracana in 1984 - and tumbles in the area under Mark Wilson's challenge. No penalty, though.

1946: Celtic kick-off and we're under way at Rugby Park.

1944: "If Kilmarnock score first, from a neutral's point of view, it could make for an interesting match." BBC Radio Scotland pundit Murdo MacLeod

1941: More than a few empty seats at a frosty Rugby Park. BBC Scotland's Chick Young says there could be fewer than 5,000 inside the stadium.

The poor Killie cheerleaders look freezing. Kurt Russell looked warmer in John Carpenter's film The Thing.

1938: "Celtic to win 3-2 with a dodgy decision for their second goal. Wouldn't be the first time Celtic won due to a ref's blunder." Alan_Compton tosses a grenade on My Sport

1936: "Even though Kilmarnock lost at home on Saturday, they remain third in the SPL. That shows you how strong they are this season." BBC Radio Scotland pundit Murdo MacLeod

1932: "Celts 3-1. Strange formation tonight. 4-5-1 against Kilmarnock is not what I expected, but we have to expect that McGeady and Maloney will be old-style wingers and Nakamura will play in the hole." Alba_Steve on My Sport

Interesting to hear Gordon Strachan tell BBC Scotland's Chick Young that he felt it would be asking too much of Cillian Sheridan to play three games in quick succession.

Any confident Kilmarnock fans out there? Could Italian midfielder Manuel Pascali be the driving force behind his side's passage to the last four of the cup?

Give me your thoughts, please. Join the debate

1928: "Expect a 2-0 Celtic victory tonight. Rugby Park is a hard place to go though, harder than playing at home to Accies!" Meeks88 on My Sport.

You're not a Hamilton fan by any chance? Or could it be Accies manager Billy Reid under the cover of cyberspace darkness? I've got a feeling there will be a few goals tonight, but can't see Celtic keeping a clean sheet. Join the debate

1920: TEAMS:

Kilmarnock: Combe, Murray, Hamill, Lilley, Wright, Bryson, Fowler, Pascali, Fernandez, Invincibile, Taouil. Subs: Rascle, Gibson, Skelton, Sammon, Simmonds.

Celtic: Boruc, Hinkel, Wilson, O'Dea, Caldwell, Scott Brown, Donati, Nakamura, McGeady, McDonald, Maloney. Subs: Mark Brown, Hartley, Robson, McCourt, Sheridan.

Kilmarnock are still without summer signing Allan Russell and Alan Johnston is also unavailable.

No place in Celtic's starting line-up for striker Cillian Sheridan, despite his goal in Saturday's 4-2 win over Hibs. Massimo Donati is given a rare start in midfield for Celtic.

Any thoughts on the teams? Give me your words of wisdom here

1900: Geri Halliwell's It's Raining Men topped the UK charts the last time Kilmarnock tasted victory against Celtic at Rugby Park.

Alan Mahood's winner in May, 2001 seems a long time ago. Kilmarnock entertain the league leaders tonight for a place in the last four of the Co-operative Insurance Cup.

We'll be covering all the action at Rugby Park to see if they can end their losing run against Gordon Strachan's side.

How do you think tonight's game will go? Give your thoughts here: My Sport and via text on 80295
