The New Saints terminate captain Steve Evans' contract
Defender Evans won seven caps for Wales while at Wrexham
The New Saints have terminated the contract of club captain and former Wales international Steve Evans.
It follows a recent court case when Evans was fined £200 by magistrates after urinating in the street on a night out in his home town, Wrexham.
Saints suspended Evans but let him play again after he verbally agreed to do extra community work for the club.
But a spokesperson for the Oswestry-based club said: "Unfortunately Steve has decided not to sign the agreement."
The spokesperson added: "This left the club with no option other than to terminate his contract for serious misconduct.
"The club has taken the matter very seriously and does not condone this type of behaviour from one of its players and has had to act in the manner in which it has done."
Evans, 31, made close to 200 Welsh Premier appearances in two spells with The New Saints, and in between was capped seven times for Wales when playing for Wrexham.
He led the Saints in their six-game European run this season, which included victory over the Irish side Bohemians and two closely fought legs against Belgian giants Anderlecht in the Champions League qualifying rounds.
