John Toshack is keen for Wales to play the Bretons in Nantes on 19 May
The Welsh football team may play a Brittany representative side in an end-of-season friendly in Nantes en route to an international match in Croatia.
The Football Association of Wales have been in talks with the Croatian FA to play Slaven Bilic's men on 23 May.
The FAW are in negotiations with the Bretagne FA about hosting a week-long training camp in Nantes before playing Brittany at Stade de la Beaujoire.
John Toshack's team beat a Basque XI 1-0 in Bilbao in May 2006.
Brittany's last match was against Congo in May 2008 in a 3-1 win in Saint-Brieuc but have not played a european side since their 3-1 triumph over Luxembourg in Brest in April 1939.
Former Rangers boss and French international Paul Le Guen starred for the Breton side in the 1980s but Brittany have played just three representative post-war fixtures.
Toshack took his Welsh players to the Basque country in 2006 for a training camp before a defeating them in a friendly in Bilbao thanks to Ryan Giggs' winner.
The Welsh then travelled to Austria to beat Trinidad and Tobago 2-1 thanks to Robert Earnshaw's double.
Now the Welsh FA have opened talks with the Bretagne FA about the prospect of training at Nantes' superb Le Centre Sportif José Arribas training facility before a friendly at the ground where the Welsh rugby side were eliminated from the 2007 World Cup.
Any friendly between the sides must be sanctioned by the French FA but Wales boss Toshack is "keen" for the game and training camp to get the go-ahead.
The date for the proposed Breton friendly is 19 May while the venue for the Croatian friendly is yet to be decided.
