Cardiff City spent almost £540,000 on agents last season, according to the Football League's agents fees report.
It was the third highest amount spent in the Championship behind Derby [£1.04m] and Birmingham [£757,000].
Swansea City spent the second lowest, just £70,000 with Sheffield Wednesday bottom after spending only £5,000.
There were 1,227 transfers in the Championship of which 142 involved agents costing a total of £7,541,379, down from £9.302m the previous season.
